the 4th Amendment?"
Note, the NRA focuses on a single inalienable right, the right to keep and bear arms although Republicans like LaPierre have misused their position in partisan-Republican ways.
In contrast, ACLU says:
Majority power is limited by the Constitution's Bill of Rights, which consists of the original ten amendments ratified in 1791, plus the three post-Civil War amendments (the 13th, 14th and 15th) and the 19th Amendment (women's suffrage), adopted in 1920.
The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees:
Unfortunately the ACLU does not support the individual right to keep and bear arms saying:
ACLU POLICY
"The ACLU agrees with the Supreme Court's long-standing interpretation of the Second Amendment
that the individual's right to bear arms applies only to the preservation or efficiency of a well-regulated militia. Except for lawful police and military purposes, the possession of weapons by individuals is not constitutionally protected. Therefore, there is no constitutional impediment to the regulation of firearms." — Policy #47I'll join any group criticizing the NRA for getting involved in partisan politics but I also expect those people to criticize ACLU for not honoring its promise to defend the Second Amendment.
NOTE: I've been a loyal member and supporter of ACLU for several decades.
