2. I trade
a fair amount of nikkei futures, and it's pretty much a given that if the US sells off, the Nikkei opens gap down. The big question here is will we see traction off the lows, or further selling (suppy begetting supply). I am not trading them this evening, but so far we are seeing some support of the lows.

The market is 20% off the highs. There are some values to be found, if you are selective.

Remember, if you are decent at screening, you want to buy other's panic, and sell their euphoria.

8. One reason for the Nikkei's decline
is the rising cost of energy. Hydrocarbon-based fuels are at record highs, and Japanese companies are coming into increasingly intense competition with China to secure energy sources from foreign suppliers.

5. Quick! Say something, Reverend Wright, so the MSM can distract us!
That's what they were doing the last time the Nikkei tanked, remember?

11. The markets in this country..
... and hence the world, have been floating on hot air for months. The banking system is near insolvency, energy prices are soaring, unemployment is on the cusp of spiking, and all the happy talk of the TV talking head and the Fed and anyone else is not going to fix it.

The markets are just now starting to figure this out, the smart money is out or getting out.

Folks who still think this is just another "recession" that will be over in a few months are seriously delusional.
