4. Televised motorsports are just one MORE reason why everyone
complains they "don't have time to cook from scratch", or "don't have time to grow a veggie garden", or "don't have time to read up on how to live with less impact on the environment". So no, I'm not a fan.

Abominable time waster. Also why people can't seem to interact with each other anymore. TOO MUCH TIME SPENT STARING AT THE TUBE.

5. I'm not a sports fan of any kind. I use to be. Now I can't stand the trappings.
The sport itself is cool so are the participants but the sport news readers, announcers, color commentators, fans, are a turn off. If I watch I mute the sound.

and so I don't watch any of these sports. I WOULD be interested in watching a race of cars or other vehicles powered by alternative fuels. After all, the first auto races were designed not for thrills but to test out engines.

18. I dont' think that anything that uses gasoline should be considered a sport
More like a game in my opinion.

It's about as sporting as a video game competition "Who has the best computer assembly and tweaking team? Who's spent the most time playing the game."

Sports involve atheletic ability in my opinion. And no the ability to sit in a car seat doesn't count.

Perhaps motorcycle sports are a little different, but I'm still not as impressed as I am by snowboarding, etc.

What a waste of gas.

Pool is a neat game but it's not a sport even though it requires concentration, skill, and good equipment.

But I still enjoy watching it and playing it from time to time :D

but motorcycle racing is about as sporting as it gets really.

not sure why we are hung up on this definition anyway. sport is arbitrary.

49. If your thinking about bikes, look again
I'm somewhat involved in motorcross, but mostly trail riding on my dirtbike. Motorcross is right up near the top of the for most physically demanding sports. Believe it or not, NASCAR drivers and such are pretty fit and in good shape too, cause when you're in a car going near 200mph for a few hours stait, your body is enduring ALOT of fatigue, NTM heat since it gets really hot inside those cars.

23. Autocross and SCCA and mostly as a participant - watching does nothing for me.
Euro rally races can be entertaining to follow occasionally. After you've been in the seat, watching from a grandstand just doesn't cut it anymore.

The bigger it is and the more money that gets involved, the worse it gets. This is why underground street racing and drag racing are so much more fun than sponsored events. They are the most pure expressions of the sport that exist.

Been a nitro fan since Don Garlits broke 200 mph in the quarter at Great Meadows NJ in 1964.

Having a short attention span helps make me a good drag fan.

Drag Racing is uniquely American - See the book "High Performance" by Dr. Robert Post for further info.

I also like custom cars and steel bumper Corvettes and street rods.

46. Motorcross rider here!
For physical demand, its right up their with soccer as the most physically demanding sport! Even if your in decent shape, flying 50+ feet through the air for 20 minutes strait will have your whole body begging for mercy between arm pumps, and stiff legs, and pretty much your whole body feeling after a while. As for gas usage, for how insanly powerful my 450 is, it uses no more gas than a Honda Civic since it has a 4 stroke engine. A couple gallons will last for about 3 hours if I'm trail riding.

Oh yeah, my $6,000 toy.

58. Yup, avidly, and used to be a crew chief and engine builder in the 70's
One day I'll have to scan some of my photos from then and put them on Photobucket.

Oh, and mine and my partner's car won about seven National events in Super Stock, not just Class, but the category, from 73-76.

I still watch every NASCAR race, and try to watch NHRA but they get bounced all over ESPN now. I enjoy Indy Car a lot, and wish they'd show the dirt cars on ESPN again.

It brings back fond memories of $.99 a gallon 115 octane racing fuel.
