Did they send troops from Afghanistn to Iraq for the Surge? |
|
Even though the Surge is "working" :sarcasm: (fuck you McCain) violence and American troop casualties were worse this month in Afghanistan than in Iraq. The situation there is deteriorating as the Taliban resurges. My question is did they take troops from Afghanistan for the surge, thereby fucking things up again?

1. Afghanistan's been a side-show since 2003 |
|
Anything that could possibly have maybe been accomplished there since the invasion in '01 got scuttled nicely by the US government's ADD about the place. End result's one of those fucked up situations where Canadians spent awhile doing most of the shooting and getting shot. Ugh.

2. Afghanistan is the perfect example of mission creep |
|
The priginal idea is that the US couldn't have any appreciable number of soldiers in Afghanistan and the few we had needed to stay away from populated areas.
The reasoning was that the Afghans wouldn't accept foreign soldiers on their soil. So we did the invasion with very few soldiers.
Then little by little the number of troops has grown and grown and the experts who told us we couldn't have foreign troops in Afghanistan are now telling us we need more and more foreign troops in Afghanistan.
Classic mission creep.
