Okay, NOW I'm REALLY pissed. Will you join me in organizing a "call-in?" campaign? |

So today, I went to have some lunch at a family owned restaurant near my house. I refuse to give my money to corporate owned joints. Who knows where there food comes from anyway? Most of it is trucked in frozen from GOD knows where and we all know that corporations have destroyed our country.
Now to the point of SEETHING, BLINDING RAAAAAAAGE!
As I was walking to the newsstand after lunch, I passed an Urban Outfitter store and an AT&T store. Mind you, there used to be NO corporate whores on this street. BOTH of them had their store entrance doors WIDE open, while BLASTING their air conditioning.
I went inside both and told them what they were doing was OBSCENE as well as unconscionable. I stated that people were DYING over oil/energy consumption and here they were WASTING energy.
The snot head wanna be hippies at Urban Outfitters shrugged me off as though I were crazy. Ship every one of their asses to Iraq, I thought to myself.
A clerk at the AT&T store told me it was company policy.
I called the corporate headquarters of the Urban Outshitters to tell them I was outraged by the store's waste of energy and that I though a boycott of the store was appropriate if they continued to fail to support our troops by wasting energy.
I haven't found the right contact for AT&T yet, but may I encourage any and all of you to take action.
If you observe one of these asshole corporate whore stores leaving their doors open while their air conditioning is blasting- SAY something! Go in the store and raise hell!
Organize a local boycott and call in. I'm going to find out how to start a man on the street petition signing- reminding passersby that by condoning the practice and shopping at these stores, they are supporting the shredding of our soldiers lives as WELL as contributing to global warming.
Rant off- BHN

1. I avoid corporate chains as much as possible. |
|
I'll go to some selectively if they do something positive. We need to support local economies with our dollars.

3. What will spur most people to action is the realization that, when these companies waste energy... |
|
...retail prices skyrocket. We're not only paying for their wastefulness in some abstract way, in some future scenario that Scarlett O'Hara can worry about tomorrow. We are all paying for it, in real money out of our wallets and our paychecks, RIGHT NOW.

4. Company policy? What kind of crap is that? |
|
It might be more helpful to write a LTTE to let your local community know. I doubt the corporate offices give a shit, but if they start getting write ups in the paper they might listen.
That kind of needless waste pisses me off too.
Good luck.
