We were in the theater watching Wall-e when the storm hit (OWH: Thunderstorm lands heavy blow)

There was no warning yesterday that bad weather was on the way. The power went out during the film, but they didn't tell us there was a bad storm in progress. The power came back on and we finished watching the film. When we exited, we immediately could see from the lobby a bad storm had been in the area. 130,000 were without power. 2 are dead from a tree falling on a parked car. I had the windows down a couple inches. It was like it went through the car wash with the windows all the way down. Everything was soaked including the ceiling from wind pushing the rain sideways and up. We started calling friends and relatives as the radio was talking about severe damage to the area. Cell phone was spotty from damaged towers. Once friends and family were accounted for we felt much better. We called our house alarm. It let us know the home was secure, it has battery back up. We had dinner out as planned. We got home to no power. Our home has a few small areas of damage. We were lucky. Several neighbors lost decks, windows, branches on cars, etc.... We got our power back at 2 A.M.. Power for many won't be back on for a day or two.

1. Ya'll have had some terrible weather these last several weeks
I'm glad you guys seem pretty much to have been OK through it. Very freakish.

Then next year it'll be drought. Seems to be the way things go these days.

2. I thought of you last night
as I saw that storm form and head your way. We got lucky down here again, at least in my area, I have not looked at the news yet. I am glad you are OK, that looked nasty and big last night.

3. got my power back about 5 this morning
I was walking around last night looking at all the uprooted trees. One nice sports car was a couple feet from being totally destroyed by a tree! The storm was so intense for about 5 minutes, then all of the sudden it was just light rain. Pretty weird. I hope my food is still good in my fridge

4. If you didn't open your fridge, it should be okay.
Several weeks ago, my power was out for about 6-10 hours. Everything was fine.
