From McCain's Site: His plan to criminalize ALL abortion in the US
I don't think enough women know this: John McCain would like to decide what options you, your daughter, your granddaughter will have in the event of an unwanted pregnancy.

http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/issues/95b18512-d5b6-456e-90a2-12028d71df58.htm

His plan is to appoint a wackjob RW ("activist?")judge to overturn Roe v. Wade (oh wait, it's only "judicial activism" when it's expanding rights, not taking them away.)

Then he plans to work to make abortion illegal on a state-by-state basis.

Back to the the back alley - if McCain has his way.

I think there should be much more discussion about this. For instance, now that most abortions are done early with drugs rather than surgically -- what will be the punishment for procuring such drugs? Will a woman be charged for "murder" for taking the day-after pill? Exactly HOW is this criminalization going to be implemented.

2. Exactly but that's a small number of abortions.
90% plus are done VERY early.....I don't think women really understand how close they are to having idiots like McCain take that choice away from them.

4. In some states, it won't be just abortion, but birth control restrictions
Wouldn't want to live anywhere in the deep south or lower midwest- because that's where you'll see iy.

6. Yes that's true the fundies see b/c pills as "abortificant"
There are already drug stores with fundie pharmacists who won't dispense them and won't direct the women where to get them.

5. The next Supreme Court justices to be replaced
in all probability will not be the ultra conservative ones, but rather the more moderate ones like Stevens and Ginsburg. Just to keep the status quo on the USSC, we're going to have to appoint moderates to fill their places. If we have the misfortune of having McCain sending up candidates to our present capitulating Senate, I'm afraid we're in for trouble. Hopefully, if Obama gets in, he won't see this as a place for bi-partisanship or compromise, as issues such as abortion already stand on the edge of a knife with this court.
