What a 'relief' to see Brokaw on MTP...
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 09:43 AM by PCIntern
I'm no big fan of his but at least he has some knowledge of history and can frame a question that's answerable and not a 'gotcha', which Timmeh used to apply differently to Dems vs. repubs.

1. In many of Timmeh's hundreds of eulogies, his colleagues loved him for this
His "gotcha" questions were considered brilliant, showed how tough he was.

Bullshit. He only did it do Democrats or Republicans who were already too deep into the muck to pretend otherwise.

.

2. Ed Zachary!
I once posted to the effect that Tim's questions were the following:

To Dems: You said that blah blah blah, but 4 years ago you said NOT blah blah blah. How do you account for your flip-flop, lying, weaseling-ways?

To repubs: You said that you were a P.O.W. with 47 other heroes, despeerately patriotic, loving their greatcountry which had sent you on a war of liberation to Vietnam (!) but tw years ago you said there were 48 others. How do you account for this slight error which is really inconsequential?

7. He's better than Pumpkinhead
But that's like saying Ashley Simpson is better than Britney Spears.

12. SHE IS NOT!
Britney's MUCH better than Ashley!! Look, the fact of the matter is that Britney has taken us thru 9/11 and these terroristic times much better than Ashley, who's clearly inexperienced and out of her depth could have. She showed great resolve and will not negotiate with 'bad guys' like Ashley would have if she were faced with the same crisis which will not happen because 48 hours before she is to perform, she won't. Britney also does not believe in freedom-abridging seat-belt laws. So there! (Doing brad blakeman 'head-shaking' the entire time)

(Genreic Rethug reply to ANY Dem point)

3. I wonder where Tim's gotchas were on WMDs?
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 09:41 AM by fasttense
He certainly missed a huge chance for gotchas on that big lie.

4. He may frame the questions differently, but his GE orders are the same.
Repeat the republican talking points at every chance you get.

The only truth is that fax you got from the Karl Rove/Ed Gillespie office every morning.

Remember, access is everything.

If Obama wins, don't announce it, we'll take care of it.

5. Well this is a given...
but I daresay that there'll be fewer replays of his questioning all week than the vaunted Saint timothy of Buffalo's...

We're going to have to win this by 15 points to actually take it...

9. Western Governors
The first half hour with Govs. Ritter and Freudenthal was the best half hour MTP that I have seen in several years. They were allowed to talk and express ideas and opinions, not just fend off whacky charges of flipflopping, etc.

I am very happy with Tom Brokaw, considering the alternatives that GE could send out.
