Poll question: On $25,000 Desserts
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 01:29 PM by readmoreoften
Yahoo has a "fun" video story about people eating $25,000 desserts made of gold. Some people are investing in gold to survive. Some people are shitting gold. This I guess is the follow up to the $175,000 gold-leaf Wall Street hamburger video they had on a few weeks back.

Is this a fucking joke? I mean even during the Reagan years there wouldn't've been an obscenity like $175,000 hamburgers and $25,000 desserts.

Anybody who buys a meal that a regular American can get for under $10 (burger and sundae) for $200,000 even before drinks is an asshole and a moron supercombo.

When a hamburger date for two costs more than 3 houses in my neighbor, that's when I get pissed. Even Marie Antoinette wasn't sick enough to say "let them eat gold leaf."

Heck, they aren't even offering us any cake!

In light of all this, choose one:

1. At Norma's (Le Parker Meridien, NYC) I saw someone order a $1,000 omelette.
And I talked her into letting me have a couple of bites.

Funny thing, we were both pretty drunk at nine o'clock in the morning.

7. I watched the video and the woman in the video
said that it tasted exactly like eating frozen hot chocolate. So I could make a cup of Swiss Miss, freeze it, and have the same thing for only $1.00?? SWEET!!!!

12. When you think of how much food that could purchase for the STARVING
in so many places-including here. Money like that would literally save me know, as I can't afford vascular surgery and I'm slowing losing feeling n both of my legs and now part of one hip. Money like that could save others being forced into homelessness by unemployment or health care costs. It could stock a food pantry in any major city for several days at the very least. It's the equivalent of a year's salary for most of us. I'm beginning to understand why the French people did what they did, though I'm still against the death penalty. Forcing them to work a minimum wage job and LIVE ON THEIR EARNINGS for ten years seems like a fitting punishment, though.
