New Smear: Obama wants to kill live babies!!!11!
From BloggerInterrupted, meet Joy. At the farm fair.

Is it better to ignore stuff like this? Some will believe it, eventually.
Or get it all out and interview more people like this so as to be able to see the stupidity?

I don't know. I got slightly uncomfortable watching this.

1. I'm going to go with Jessie at Pandagon
"As a fellow Middle American, let me step up and say this: if you believe that Obama is a Muslim, unpatriotic, a terrorist, not born in America, any of the various rumors floating around about him, you are an ignorant, bigoted asshole giving in to the worst temptations of society, no matter how coddled they are by people unwilling to offend you lest they seem like the sort of elitist who doesn’t obsess over whether or not Negroes with funny names are going to kill you in your sleep. Facts don’t seem to work, so I’m more than willing to try abject shame for being unrepentant dumbassery."

Let's just start calling it what it is: Unrepentant dumbassery from ignorant, bigoted assholes who are giving in to the worst temptations of society.

2. Something THAT fucking stupid & desperate needs to be laughed at
VIGOROUSLY and often.

What is interesting to me is the stuff that gets posted here so we can discuss it (as it gets read by more people than would otherwise have seen it).

4. Bush and Cheney have actually killed babies. And John McCain
is chomping at the bit to do the same.

Indisputable.

So, if and until Obama does actually kill a baby, I'd ignore it.

5. MSN/NYT has an article on the lies/myths about Obama...
They are saying many people in Ohio and the midwest believe this stuff, or at least are confused by it to the pointthey are voting for McCain.

We need to put some money into TV ads to counter this-it is a serious threat, and I would not want to see us lose the election because of this bullshit. (Or any other reason, either.)

I believe this is coming from McCain's supporters as an easy way to get scare votes.

I have seen a lot more of this stuff, some of it as simple as stating that Obama is "a dangerous man."

WE need to win this election first, make fun of the republicans later.

11. You are right --win first, poke fun later.
These crazy stories resonate with enough people to be worrisome.

6. This was covered in the Obama-Keyes Senate debate in 2004
I watched the youtube videos of those debates a couple months ago. Keyes had charged in the media that Obama had voted in favor of infanticide. Obama clarified the issue in the debate perfectly. First he cited a long list of groups supporting his side of the vote, including credible human rights organizations and legal experts. The bill was a poor attempt of outlawing Roe v. Wade. If this comes up again in a national debate, Obama will crush McCain.

9. Try telling that to the subject.
She refuses to do further research on the case "Is Obama an Arab as I 'believe', or should I listen to people who know he's not".

She should have read and shut up, of course. But no, she get's her info from a Lobbyist, so that makes it all okay. Pfew.

And John McCain couldn't be killing babies in Iran - I just saw him on there teevee set talkin to whatshisname about drillin in Alaska so as we can git 2 dollar oil. gas. whatever.

I don't think we should ignore them but we SHOULD dismiss them quickly as straw men that have no merit.

15. All too bad.
As a European, I'd like to see Obama elected. On the other hand, I'd loved to see Kucinich get elected.

McCain is just a scary old crow that feeds on dead meat, but Fox won't tell you that.
