Today will mark Day one of my quest to get my local stations to start playing Dixie Chicks again
I am going to call the 3 main country stations in my area and request that they play the Chicks

I am going to say

"now that Natalie Mains has been proven correct, and Bush has been proven to be the worst president ever, I would like to start hearing the Chicks on the radio again"

I am going to call every day until I hear the Chicks back on the air

1. I can't believe they're still treating them like that!
Wow. I'll be sure to contact them. Are these the exceptional holdouts or is it still widespread?

focus-grouped market-ready pop crap), and it's a shame to see what the industry has become--the Dixie Chicks were only a symptom of the larger problem. Country USED to be a genre BY the little people FOR the little people, a way for ordinary/poor folks to express raw joys and sorrows, or a way to rebel against "the man"--think of the greats, like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn. The Chicks, who were not just marketable and successful but also VERY talented and creative, rebelled against "the man", just as they were supposed to, but country music had since been officially been adopted by the Republican party as a marketing and propaganda outlet. The Chicks were fine as long as they "shut up and sang", but when they used their power and success as a platform to make people think, it was suddenly threatening, and thus they had to go. Since the 90's, if it wasn't Mom and Apple Pie and Feel-Good Rah-Rah Patriotic crap, then it didn't serve the purpose of manipulating the target Southern/rural audiences into a particular mindset that benefitted the marketers, the GOP and Clear Channel. Believe it or not, even Toby Keith was pretty good when he was just starting out--had some gritty, thought-provoking songs--before he became a GOP propaganda tool himself. There is still good country music, but it's called "alternative" now, and you really have to seek it out. Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox.

13. Exactly. I miss Texas.
The fact that Gnats the daughter of one of the finest steel players ever (Lloyd Maines) pains me no end. She's annoyed me since I first heard her way back when.
Radio has moved on away from the D/C, your efforts to get them back would be better aimed at the the Corporate Pop stations.
They are all but a forgotten entity here on Chicago radio. Her comments about FM radio stations really didn't help them either.

But, hey, I can't help but picture all 3 of em, sitting around a salad and breadstick lunch at Olive Garden, bitching that even though they were right, the mouthy crab F'd it up for them big time.
BTW, I noticed Shut Up and Sing is in the (6.99?) bargain bin at Best Buy.

15. I'm just sayin,
that they burned thier country bridges, so to speak. You might want to try the more contemporary stations.
I also wasn't the first, and likely wont be the last to voice my less than gung ho opinion of their music, but still, I did not reply to your OP.
Technicaly.
