DO THIS RIGHT NOW!!! FISA/Dodd Feingold ammendment

I did it. easy, free, you call your senators and record their asnwers. Firedoglake is tabulating.

PLEASE everyone do this. Every single one of you.
Thank-you!!!

link to: http://tools.advomatic.com/7/fisa

It will ask for your telephone, make the phone call to your senator and your phone will ring, and you talk.(You'll get a moment to collect your thoughts.) It is that simple. Have each member of your family call. Flood them with calls. PLEASE.

Here is the email sent from DOdd this morning:

Do you remember the excitement when we first stopped retroactive immunity in the Senate last year?

We earned that moment together -- both the victory and the feeling that we had made a difference.

That hard-earned success felt so good because collectively we made our voices heard in the well of the Senate and in offices across DC.

On the eve of another vote, it's time for us to speak up again.

Please use the call tool created by our friends at Firedoglake and ask your Senators to vote "YES" on the Dodd-Feingold Amendment to strip retroactive immunity from FISA

http://tools.advomatic.com/7/fisa

We had a lot of great allies that first time around, and together we were able to stop a bad bill: bloggers, Electronic Frontier Foundation, DFA, MoveOn, the ACLU and more ...

Once again, we're going to need every last hand on deck today and tomorrow if we're going to stop this bill one more time.
Please make your voice heard by calling your Senator's office, right now.

http://tools.advomatic.com/7/fisa

I'll check in again tomorrow with an update on our progress and what to expect from the votes.

Until then, I am glad we're back in the fight together.

Chris

1. I'm not sure the tool is working correctly.
It wants me to configure a website.

Person answering at Burr's office wasn't "familiar with that particular issue" :eyes: so transferred me to someone else. Got his voicemail and left my message.

BUT -- BREAKING (maybe) Dole's office, same thing, had to put me on hold -- came back and says she DOES support immunity! So I said I was calling to ask her NOT to support it, to support the Dodd, Feingold, Lahey amendment, so would he please make a not of it.

I'll call back Burr's office later. For what it's worth, I'd already called them a week or so ago asking to NOT support FISA, but that was before this amendment was proposed.

This is a pretty spiffy setup -- it's easy. So I hope everyone calls their senators. :patriot:

The Democratic presidential candidate should be a model for all Dems. Instead, he's failing.

24. If we can pass the amendment (questionable) and Bush would then veto the biill,
that is preferable to not bringing it to the floor. Politically, if that happens - the public sees that Bush is the one willing to "sacrifice national security" for the benefit of the telcos - but really to protect his own hide.

I agree with you that Reid misplayed this - he should have put the judiciary committee's bill up, not the inteligence committee's bill - then it would have been the Republicans who killed it or Bush who vetoed it. Instead - he took a bill that a large wing of the Democratic party can not vote for that gives Bush everything he wants. Worse, where the Republicans would have filibustered a Democratic bill - they do this regularly, because Reid allowed this bill out - it can be seen as Democratic legislation and the leadership is pushing it, so many Democrats won't join a filibuster. (Reid is in a tough position - he is blamed if nothing passes - BUT it should be worse if he lets bad things pass.)
