Anarchists Announce Plans On-Air to Foil RNC Convention Goers
myfoxtwincities.com

ST. PAUL -- An anarchist group threatening to crash the Republican National Convention has taken to the airwaves. Ironically calling themselves the “RNC Welcoming Committee,” members of the group shared plans to wreak havoc during the RNC. Their plans include blocking bridges into St. Paul.

Those plans, called “Swarm, Seize and Stay,” call for members to try and cut off convention-goers and delegates from the arena.

"We're not trying to influence the Republicans. They already know that people are against the war, people are against pollution, global warming and racism. The Republicans just don't seem to care," said a member of the anarchists group on-air. The group was broadcasting from the independent radio station KFAI during community access hour Sunday night.

The three broadcasters, known only as Harold, Emma and Tony explained their plans to crash the convention, calling themselves agents of change. Last week, the group obtained shuttle routes and other transportation information as part of their strategy to set up blockades.

1. That's a bad idea.
That sort of thing will only make the Republicans sympathetic figures, which is a hard thing to do.

8. If I were doing something like this I wouldn't announce it on the radio beforehand.
They're either morons or posers. Maybe the feds are building a case for making the city a total police state.

13. exactly my thoughts -- kind of STUPID to announce it in time for the authorities
To prepare to stop them.

This totally smells like BS to blame the Democrats for their actions.

16. Just think of how much extra money the Repukes will spend on security...
... preparing to thwart the alleged plans that these alleged Anarchists SAY they have up their sleeves.

By their very announcement they're creating a certain amount of Virtual Attrition among the Repukes, as they take inconvenient and expensive measures to thwart what may very well be simple misdirection.

18. I agree... Misdirection is cheap chaos...
I know I plan on staying on my side of the river during that CONvention!

The St. Paul PD has been gearing up for something big, buying tons of new toys, and you know they'll want to use them.

19. Interesting twist and ironically similar
to what the RePukes have done with with all their fear mongering. Get them to spend a boatload of money on security for a threat that likely won't happen.

23. They wanted donations?
Wow.

I'm going to protest the RNC by doing a performance art piece where I sit in my living room watching baseball on TV, pretending to be a Republican. If anybody wants to donate so I can get a 37 inch HDTV for this protest, please contact me since my actions will go further towards promoting social justice than the anarchists.

20. I've read about the possibility that the right-wing might stage a revolt
at the republican convention, due to their dissatisfaction with McCain's platform.

The only people who can really harm the republican party are the republicans themselves; with all due respect — anarchists please stay home this Sept.1st.

21. Right idea, wrong venue-- IMHO.
The only thing that would actually get the attention of our arrogant, power-mad government at this point (Republicans and Democrats alike), are massive work shut-downs. They clearly aren't afraid of the people anymore, and think we're a bunch of ignorant cattle that can be herded anywhere.

25. Thanks for supporting Fox News "Facts".. Here is a response !
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RNC WELCOMING COMMITTEE SPEAKS ON ALLEGED "LEAK" OF GOP TRANSPORTATION
DOCUMENT
July 7, 2008

Late last week, news media outlets throughout the Twin Cities metro area
covered a story about an allegedly “leaked” document concerning RNC
delegate transportation, provided to the public by the RNC Welcoming
Committee. It is an early version of a proposal for transporting thousands
of delegates to and from Downtown St. Paul's Xcel Center, where the
Convention is to be held, and includes maps, photos, and descriptions of
potential bus formations. News reports portrayed the dissemination of
information as a breach of convention security, intermingling sparse facts
and fear-mongering hyperbole.

Asked to comment, Welcoming Committee spokesperson Jesse Helmsted said,
“That document was and is a public document, produced in response to a
Data Services Act request and accessible to anyone who asks for it.
Anyone, even self-proclaimed journalists, could have brought this document
to the attention of Twin Cities residents, as delegate transportation will
certainly inconvenience all of us who live here. That so-called reporters
would rather engage in fear-mongering and sensationalism than, say, tell
the truth, only speaks to the dangers of trusting corporate media.”

The document in question, a scanned PDF of a print-out of a PowerPoint
presentation called “GOP Express,” is one of many documents produced by
the City of St. Paul in a lawsuit brought against them by groups planning
an anti-war march for the first day of the Republican National Convention.
The Welcoming Committee, an anarchist organizing body preparing for RNC
protests, has positioned itself as a clearinghouse for convention-related
information, and provides any and all relevant material through its
website, http://www.NoRNC.org.

On Friday, July 5th, St. Paul Police dared the Welcoming Committee to use
the document. “Go ahead, plan off that,” said Pete Panos, St. Paul Police
spokesman. “That would be great for us.”

Helmsted responded, “Far out, Pete! We've been seeking endorsements of our
Call to Crash the Convention, but the backing of the St. Paul Police
Department is more than we'd dared to hope for. Now that we've got it, all
bets are off.”

Just like Hillaryis44.com and so many other fronts. Notice how every 'fringe' left website which you never heard of before this election campaign JUST HAPPENS to be registered through the same Arizona private-registration company set up by the founder of GoDaddy.com, Bob Parsons? I'm guessing he's a GOP supporter. GoDaddy has donated $4000 to McCain (surprise).
