What are the common threads linking sundry weird stories of corruption from Abramoff to Siegleman to McCain being the Republican anointed (a very odd choice in my view) -- the gambling industry. The other thread is oil, of course. But I don't think Pelosi has anything to do with the oil industry. So, tin foil hat in hand, I would guess someone owes a gambling debt or does not want a history of gambling revealed -- or or or.

Please, I'm not totally serious about this theory in that my rational side realizes that it is 98% untrue and worthless, but there is always that other 2%.

But, then again, Pelosi's conduct is so strange and so anti-Democratic and anti-Constitution and irrational that I can only explain it with crazy theories. What is with her? Has she gone mad? During the primaries it came out that Hillary made recommendations regarding Nixon that were designed to (I think the term was) 'keep him swinging in the wind' until the election. It was a strategy that placed political expediency over the concept that the rule of law is our guiding principle as a nation.
