I lurk so you don't have to:

"Never spend your money before you have it. - Thomas Jefferson"
"Ignorance allows liberalism to prosper"
"I see miles and miles of Texas....let's keep it that way."
"ICE toll-free tip hotline 1-866-DHS-2-ICE"
"You are free to make choices, but not free from the consequences"
"The Answer is Fred Thompson, I do not care what the question is."
"Tolerance is the virtue of the man without convictions"
"A bird flies because the right wing opposes the left"
"Dems, Libs, Socialists...call 'em what you will...They ALL have fairies livin' in their trees."
"Are the environmentalists gonna pay my heating bill this winter?"
"Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms shouldn't be a federal agency...it should be a convenience store"

I don't expect you to understand moralizations, ya dirty hippy. :p

Very rarely. Unless you're talking about failed presidential bids by old, curmodgeny, politicians-turned-actors with the all the charisma and energy of a wet sock, well, then, sure, he'd be the answer.

he owned to pay off his debt, including his slaves and Monticello. Those dollars are real 1826 dollars too, not adjusted for inflation. I guess poor old Jefferson failed miserably on his own quote.

29. sadly, it's both
Clearly more the repubs since the 80s, but the Dems were in control of Congress for like 75% of that time too, so they don't get a free pass.

But nobody ever wants to be the ones to propose any spending cuts or ending any program. The voting electorate wants to be bribed by what the gov' is going to throw their way (like some stupid gas tax holiday or $300 check).

I'd love a balanced budget amendment. Whatever we deem as necessary and appropriate spending needs to be offset by either cuts in another program or increased taxes. It's pretty simple. But SOMETHING needs to be done about this $10T deficit and soon.

39. Last time I looked, Bill Clinton left the nation with a big surplus.
We were doing very well as of January 20, 2001, when the chimp took office along with a Republican-majority Congress. Within a few years the Republicans had spent the surplus and put the country in record debt.

44. Yes
But there was also a Democratic Congress all through the 80s, the first 4 years of the 90s, and since 2004.

Bush had a republican congress for 4 years, and so absolutely 100% of the fiscal horrors that occurred at that time can be laid at their feet. But it's $10T in debt, and while the vast majority occurred with a Republican president, about half of it occurred with a Democratic Congress.

The unchecked spending (without commensurate tax revenues) is MORE the Republicans fault - especially due to the 2001-2004 sessions - but it's not ONLY their fault.

58. Bullshit. Your "facts" are wrong.
The deficit is totally the fault of the Republicans. I will repeat. Bill Clinton left us with a surplus. Bush and his Republican Congress erased it and replaced it with a historically large deficit within the first few years of taking office.

Further, Poppy Bush and Reagan and their Republican Congresses left us with a record-breaking deficit, which Democrat Bill Clinton turned around. Then Baby Bush stole the White House and laid waste again.

You are either deliberately lying or you just don't want to face the truth. The Republicans cause deficits. The Democrats straighten things out. Then the Republicans lie and steal their way into office and cause deficits again. Face the truth.

36. It's actually pretty good advice. R's would do well to follow their own advice.
Fiscally conservative voters keep hope alive that someday their elected Rs will be able to balance the budget. When pigs fly! Responsible spending is what R's are worst at.

Spend 'n spend republicans drive us deep into debt. The stupidest part about republican voters is they are in complete denial that republicans in office are less responsible with tax dollars, times 10.

27. They are the dividers.
One huge aspect and goal of the neocon movement is to divide people and create outrage and hatred against those that do not follow the phony neocon fascist line. The easiest example is "If you don't support the invasion of Iraq, then you do not support the troops."

I support the troops. GET THEM THE FUCK OUT OF IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

They do not talk about issues. They demand adherence to the party line spewed by the MSM.

The left vs. right paradigm has got to end. And it will. Soon.
