2. Exfuckingcuseme? Hello, private property rights?
Disney World is private fucking property, and just like a person can/should be able to ban guns on their own property, a business has that right as well.

I have no problem with people's right to bear arms, just so long as it doesn't interfere with my right to control my property.

Where are the conservative cries for private property rights?

12. That goes into different territory
It's private property open to the public as a business. Despite being private property, Disney World can't hang a sign saying "Whites Only" or "No Blacks Allowed". In a similar vein, you can't stipulate that you'll only sell or won't sell your home to a person of a certain ethnic background.

So...

It's largely cosmetic anyway. If a visitor is property wearing a concealed pistol, you're not going to know about it unless a) you search him, or b) a situation occurs where the gun is drawn.

Ditto for an employee keeping it in their car while working their shift.

6. "Do you feel lucky punk?"
Mickey said pointing a AK47, inches from Donald's beak..."with all the excitement, I lost count, did I fire 355 rounds, or was it 356?

Yanno, It sorta takes the magic away...if you know what I mean.

7. Disney Declares Itself Above the Law would be a more accurate headline...
...but then I guess that's not as exciting.

Florida state law says that you can store a gun in your car, not bring it into the workplace, simply store it in your car. Disney says nah, that doesn't apply to us. They may have a case as "explosives companies" and companies that have explosive permits are exempt. Apparently Disney has such a permit.

The folks that drafted the law argue that the exemption was not intended to cover Disney.

I see it as yet another example of a big corporation deciding that the rules are different for them than for the rest of us. YMMV.

10. "Apparently Disney has such a permit."
Hell yeah, we have such a permit! Have you ever seen the sheer volume of fireworks that are set off at EACH park nightly? Besides, Disney has a bad habit of treating some of it's employees rather poorly (I've been with them 20 years and have had good times and bad with the company). Guns in the parking lots-PRIVATE PROPERTY- should never be permitted. Our guests from overseas would not be comfortable with it, and neither would most cast members.

16. I worked with Disney through the College Program. I learned it was basically a union-smashing tool.
Of course, Eisner made it a policy to replace more and more of the front-line positions with college students instead of full-time workers who could join a union to cut down on labor costs and weaken the pre-existing labor unions there. College students in the CP can't join without being fired on the spot. I had a great time there; I had great memories to take away from the whole experience, but Disney World is ultimately just another Fortune 500 company.

11. The guy in the suit is almost always a woman
I've known a few of the girls who have played Mickey. One in particular had some very nasty PMS (and yes, it's odd when Mickey asks you if you have any Midol).

17. I agree that it's possible
The people should be allowed to carry them on their person as long as they're concealed. Safer that way.

20. Why would you want to bring a gun to Disney World?
Unless you think the Pirates of the Caribbean exhibit is actually real and you want to protect all the women from being chased by the pirates.
