"I just spent four and a half minutes on the phone calling both of my senators, my representative and the White House urging that action be taken seriously to lift the ban on oil drilling off shore and in ANWAR and the shale fields in the West. It has been revealed that there are oil deposits there in the billions of barrels, far in excess of the Middle East. Due to improved technology these assets can now be tapped in an environmentally safe manner. There is no logical reason not to utilize what is in our domain."

"Alternate energy sources are, and should be, developed which, as this effort progresses, will gradually lessen our dependency on oil. But the situation at this time dictates action to utilize what is in our own backyard."
