(she told him she was five years older than she actually was) and initially he lied to her about his age (he told her he was five years younger than he actually was).

She seemed to think this was a Cute Story, and chuckled a little.

I think launching a relationship with a matched pair of lies is a bit bizarre, but maybe that's just me.
