In 2007, Bush promised Iraq withdrawal if asked by Maliki: ‘I don’t see how we could stay.’
Yesterday, Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said he would like to set a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops. Today, however, the Bush administration rejected the timetable. In an April 24, 2007 interview with Charlie Rose, however, President said he would remove troops if asked by Iraq, but he predicted that Maliki would not ask for a withdrawal:

ROSE: But if he said get out now, we don’t want you anymore–

BUSH: I don’t see how we could stay. It is his country.

ROSE: But if he said that, it would lead to the catastrophe that you have suggested.

BUSH: That’s why he’s not going to say it.

ROSE: You don’t think he’ll say it?

BUSH: I don’t. No, I don’t.

e’re looking at conditions, not calendars here,” State Department spokeperson Gonzalo Gallegos said today.

1. Thanks for posting this
I read it in one of the local papers yesterday evening.

Not just Bush - but it also flies in the face of McSame. I take Maliki's words and wants at face value. If the will of the people of Iraq is to be exercised . . . Then it's time for us to go.

2. yeah..but to be fair...Bush lies
snicker

Sarcasm aside

Bush lies.

Always has....always will....only fools and liars claim to take him at his word.

Everything the US government has said and done regarding Iraq in the last almost 8 years has been nothing but a lie. Start to whatever finish....all lies. Lies on top on lies. New lies when the old ones have worn thin. Lies to hide lies behind. Lies. Lies. Lies. Lies about motive and intentions. Lies about torture and abuse. Heapin' stack of lies on top of a heapin' pile of shit spewing forth from the putrid and pus-oozing lips of government.

4. And, McCain "dismisses" the very idea of it. Um, who the hell is he anyway?
He says 'oh, Malik is just a politician...". Well, what the hell is he?! He is running for president and he's not a politician?

This is getting crazier and crazier and crazier.

6. That's not what he said a few years ago. He is in full pander mode right now.
I knew that if it came down to it * would ignore it. He ignores everything else.
