I'm convinced that Dick Cheney is one of the top ten...
most abominable human begins that ever walked the Earth. He's fits easily into the company of Caligula, Hitler, Atila the Hun, Pol Pot and the like. Who knows, when and if all of his actual deeds come to light, he might even make top five.

the Torsk Bandits raiding my old Sailfish (572) a few years ago. But it looks like the museum boat crew are keeping the brass shiny.

14. Actually, no, BUT...
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 09:33 AM by MookieWilson
we did get a toilet, some radio equipment and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL - our plexi bubble for the conning tower from Sailfish...

We recently got a lot of control room equipment off ex-Trout in the Philly Navy Yard. What a moldy, sweaty day that was...

Paminito took some of our conning tower electronics and the Commonwealth of MD made us remove the main depth gauges because of radium in them. No kidding. They're in the Washingotn Navy Yard now.

One of our periodic volunteers - he lives in Maine - is a former Sailfish sonarman. Great guy.

16. Well many of us are glad the Bandits got the bubble and
other stuff off for good use instead of sending it all to the bottom. The Torsk is a must visit when I get to the Baltimore waterfront sometime.

You need to re-read your history.

21. Why Nancy over Ronny?
because she covered up his illness?

Also, why aren't Poppy and Bar Bush on that list, they gave birth to the cretin in the White House.

I'd also probably include Gerry Ford for pardoning Nixon and for helping to cover up those who were really behind JFK's assassination, and John Foster Dulles who ushered in the Viet Nam FUBAR. Hell, there's so many.

9. If only there were a way to impeach and convict and remove from office, but
Genghis Cheney seems to be able to operate unimpeded in his march to fulfillment of the neocon PNAC wet dream of death, destruction, and unimaginable greed. :D

12. What's truly horrifying about Cheney is how "ordinary" he is.
Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 09:08 AM by patrice
In Eichman in Jerusalem, Hannah Arendt documents how prosaic Evil is.

I believe it. The sum-and-total of ALL of our crimes, by far mostly "small" shortcomings and weaknesses, achieves Critical Mass when a relatively ordinary person, such as Cheney, comes along and makes relatively rational decisions that trigger Horror.

Though Cheney is a catalyst, it's not just Cheney; it IS us.

19. Yeah, I'd say top five.
When I see his high school photo were he looks like the well-scrubbed farm boy I have to wonder...WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED !!! Was he always mean and creepy? How did his classmates or adults at that time preceive him? When did he sell his soul to the devil?
