30 Acres of Manure--Illinois |
|
Even though the local county board in Jo Daviess County, a top tourism attraction in Northwest Illinois, voted against letting a 1500 acre dairy farm locate there, the state agriculture authority okayed it anyway. The company that wants to build it is from California which is running out of the huge amount of water that it requires. http://www.stopthemegadairy.org/why_oppose_this_factory.htmlhttp://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-big-farm-13-jun13,0,7136487.storyLocals trying to fight it wage an uphill battle. David against Goliath. http://www.galenagazette.com/main.asp?SectionID=142&SubsectionID=331&ArticleID=12191&TM=42103.77

1. This is what I don't get. People vote against dairy farms, new airports and such |
|
But McCain and his minions think these same people are going to let him build a nuclear facility down the road from them?
What a joke.

5. What does that have to do with no one wanting a nuclear plant near them? |
|
What is the point you are trying to make?

6. It is not McSame & Co. allowing this, but "our side". |
|
Of course, if they were in control there, the result would be the same.
It's not that there is no difference between Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dummer, it's just that differences are so small.

9. Yes, But Manure Must Be-- |
|
Manure must be confronted wherever it is found. And no matter who owns it.

2. Galena is getting a factory farm? Tourism is its only business |
|
I guess all those tourist shops can close up now and the out of work employees can go get fabulous jobs in the slaughterhouse.
Illinois State legislatures are all in lobbyists pockets.

8. Maybe they'll put in a nice veal farm next door. |
|
Shame how much damage these operations do to a locale.
