Edited on Wed Jul-09-08 04:25 PM by Ilsa
Some people are tired of fighting the constant battles and they want a better life for their families. I don't blame them. I'd probably leave if I could, but I have no idea where I'd go. But some people are ready to move on with their lives in a positive way -- they are tired of the negativity in their lives that comes from this disappointing struggle.

Call me a coward if you like but the people who came to America came here for a better life. Were you all begotten by cowards then?

2. People who are departing aren't liberals or cool, and "coward" certainly applies.
The choice is Obama or McCain.

Ergo, the people not voting Obama are just giving lip service to the Constitution. And a better life for their families, for that matter.

Fucking drama queens.

Do you subtly insult all new people here? Is it a way to win support?

21. It has nothing to do with Obama or McCain...
Some people see the structure of society as unchangeable, and following dangerous trends. Some people do not think it is 'their' fight. Some people decided to leave before they ever heard of Obama.

26. Do you know how long it takes to apply for immigration and be approved?
Its juvenile to boil down the human condition to a battle between a 'rockstar' and a 'maverick'. Perhaps qualms are spawned due to anti-intellectualism that is rampant, so much so, that one would be attacked for taking a more complex look at a society and making a slow, educated reaction to it (for saftey and in pursuit of happiness).

"Its juvenile to boil down the human condition to a battle between a 'rockstar' and a 'maverick'."

It's juvenile to say "I'm taking my ball and going home."

32. Semi-literates with no real skills would not be accepted via Skilled Worker Immigration
The point is that leaving isn't a cowardly reaction to Obama vs McCain, when such a decision was reached half a decade before either became nominees. There is a more complex view of our society that causes people like me to leave. Im sorry you cannot see this, but you shouldn't attack out of confusion and misunderstanding.

40. Bull-oney

Your post is so full of crap that it's overloaded GD's crapometer.

And exactly what their departure has to do with voting for Obama or not voting for Obama kind of eludes me.

The USA (USA! USA!) is not the only game in town, you know. Some of us prefer to think of ourselves first as citizens of the world -- and, yeah, immigration policies often mess with applying that belief in reality -- than of any one country to which we just happen to have been born. Immigration/emigration is a constant, the world over, the irony being that it's what made this portion of the continent the formerly United (now disUnited) States of America in the first place. I wish our nationswappers well, wherever they may be coming to or leaving from and whatever their motivation.

41. Isn't that the real irony? Usually we call people who leave their home...
to come here and look for a better life brave. I mean, packing up and moving your entire family to a place unfamiliar, perhaps, different culture, maybe even a different language. But, if it's the other way around, they're cowards. It's really the exceptionalism that Americans have about themselves, they can't see a reason why people would want to immigrant from here.

USA...we're number 1!
