I need a link to Obama on gun control

I didn't find it on his site under issues? I had a teamster tell me today he doesn't care who his union endorses. He is "voting against Obama because he will take away guns". I just want to know where the Senator has been in the past with a link or two.

4. Civil rights matter
and so do ALL the amendments.

Including the 2nd. Don't get me wrong. I'm voting for him, but his record on gun rights sucks.

Granted, he came from the Chicago political machine, which is hardly open to the RKBA.

7. Plenty would like it to be so
HCI is on record saying their ultimate goal was a ban, DC *had* an effective ban, etc.

I have no idea how Obama REALLY feels about handgun rights - iow how much was Chicagofriendly posturing, but I am also aware that one different vote on the SCOTUS and gun rights would have been denied.

3. The Supreme Court has ruled
Total gun bans are unconstitutional. I'd just tell them nobody can take their guns away, so relax.

8. Obama was board member of the Joyce Foundation that funds the Violence Policy Center (VPC).
Joyce also offered Obama the position as its president.

VPC’s primary goal is to ban handguns.

Would an anti-abortion group select a pro-abortion person for its president? NO!

Would an anti-handgun group like Joyce select a pro-handgun person for its president? NO!

Obama voted AGAINST Senate bill 397 that said “The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the rights of individuals . . . to keep and bear arms.”

The Supreme Court said in D.C. v. Heller, “The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia . . .”

Obama immediately announced “I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms . . .”

Obama should promise voters “I will veto every bill that comes to me as president that infringes upon the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms for self-defense.”

If Obama does not do that, then the teamster has every right to worry.
