"The Bush administration was forced yesterday to issue a grovelling apology to the Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, after White House officials briefed the travelling US press corps that Berlusconi was regarded as a political amateur who had used his massive media influence to gain political power.
White House spokesman Tony Fratto said the biography used "insulting" language and "the sentiments expressed in the biography do not represent the views of President Bush, the American government, or the
American people. We apologise to Italy and to the prime minister for this very unfortunate mistake," he wrote in a letter distributed via email."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/jul/09/italy.usaHey Fratto, you don't speak for me!
Whether it's censorship of the media that disagrees with him, telling reporters not to investigate the Yellowcake forgeries, cryptically communicating with fascists in Italy, being granted immunity from his own party, or his repression of the Roma people; Berlusconi has proven himself to be at the best corrupt, and at worst, just plain evil.
So, Tony Fratto and the Bush Administration, we disagree with you. We disagree with you when you apologized for your inadvertent revelation of just how corrupt Berlusconi is, and we also disagree with you because Berlusconi should not be an ally of the United States in the first place.
