Breaking: Rove's claim of executive privilege DENIED by House
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 10:12 AM by babylonsister
committee. Will provide link when I find one.

Edit to add:

Rove Is a No Show at House Judiciary
By Kate Klonick - July 10, 2008, 10:54AM

Karl Rove stood by his claim last week that he wouldn't be showing up to testify about anything to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law, despite its subpoena, on the grounds of executive privilege.

The Subcommittee quickly passed a motion to reject Rove's claim of privilege, with Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT), the ranking minority member, the lone voice of dissent. Since Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) threatened contempt last week, we're expecting a vote on that in the near future, but it won't be happening today.

They may actually do something. Woohoo!

15. Then they should charge him with contempt. In addition, if the courts ruled that Bill Clinton
could be tried for the Paula Jones verses Bill Clinton case when he was a SITTING PRESIDENT, then there is no way that rove can get out of this when he isn't even part of the administration

19. I expect Rove to be hit with some strongly-worded statements any day now.
But not too strongly-worded. We wouldn't want to hurt his feelings now, would we?

If someone skips the country after a subpeona has been rendered, does any law state they can be arrested upon their return?

30. Anyone expect to see Inherit Contempt? I don't but I see this:
They will asked Mukasey to do something when he already said he wouldn't
then ask for a special consul which will also be denied. Next comes an appeal
to the District Court, in which nothing will happen, then they will sit on this
and discuss their options......... When the only option, that has only been their only
option from the beginning is inherit contempt.

I will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong.
