does anybody besides me wonder who funded that "secret report" that shows that biofuels are
responsible for the current food crisis?

can't help but suspect that big oil was behind it.

1. Biofuels don't help reduce greenhouse gases, so I'm against them anyway.

2. Quit making from Corn and other foodstuffs
biofuels, as a general category is not really the issue. It's making them from things - especially corn - that are heavily relied on as food. Corn is a heavy feeder - lots of fertilizer - and takes as much oil/gas input as it produces (there might even be a net loss if all costs and inputs are figured). Biofuels can be made from non-food and low input alternative biomass, where it might be beneficial from a true cost and oil input perspective, even if it doesn't lessen CO2 emissions.

3. Its no secret. Government subsidies to make food fuel competitive with oil drive up prices for food
The fact that it takes more energy to make corn ethanol than you get out is the oil company secret

Not to mention the cancer fighting potential of chronic.

5. Its not biofuels in general, only food-based biofuels are bad for agriculture. Switchgrass is...
one of the few viable temporary solutions.
Corn-based ethanol is good for nothing (besides subsidies).
But in all cases the destruction of forests to create farm land in which to grow the biofuel, counter-balances any positive effect the actual fuel might have on greenhouse gas.

7. Yeah, I'm skeptical too.
I'm betting the problem is highly inflated in comparison to gas prices and crackdowns on immigration.
