Oil settles $5.60 higher
Posted: 03:16 PM ET
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — A rally in oil prices gained steam Thursday afternoon, settling more than $5 higher, as traders reacted to talk of further turbulence in Iran, which threatens the supply of Middle East oil.

Light sweet crude settled $5.60 a higher to $141.65 a barrel. Prices had soared as high as $142.04 earlier in the day.

Traders say that increased tensions in Iran and the apparent end of a cease-fire in Nigeria pushed prices up.

2. My first prediction was labor day, then it went nuts so I moved it to
july 4th. Almost got it. Now, not so sure, I'm thinking early august.

there are morons* in high places that are trying to keep it below 150 before the end of summer. I don't think the force is strong with that one*.

5. Started taking mass trans to work this week...
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 10:15 PM by rainbow4321
1/2 mile to the train from my house, 1 transfer to a bus for a brief trip to the front of my workplace. Sure beats the daily 40 mile roundtrip car drive I've been doing in stop and go traffic!

Normally by Thursday I would have done 180+ miles and have just over a 1/4 tank. Instead, tonight, my odometer reads just 98 miles (50 of which was my kid borrowing the car one evening) for the week and I am just under 3/4 of a tank still (filled up on Sunday).

I am possibly looking at going 2-2.5 weeks before I have to fill up instead of once a week!!
My employer pays for an annual mass trans pass so I am not even having to spend my former gas money on a monthly pass fee.

I only wish that I had switched over sooner!!
