Rove ignores committee's subpoena, refuses to testify -CNN
Edited on Thu Jul-10-08 04:10 PM by spanone
ol karl just didn't feel like showing up....

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Karl Rove, President Bush's longtime political guru, refused to obey an order to testify before a House Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday.

Rove's lawyer asserted that Rove was "immune" from the subpoena the committee had issued, arguing that the committee could not compel him to testify due to "executive privilege."

The panel is investigating allegations that Rove and his White House allies dismissed U.S. attorneys and prosecuted officials who they saw as political opponents.

The panel subpoenaed Rove in May after his lawyer, Robert D. Luskin, made clear the former White House deputy chief of staff would not appear voluntarily.

1. This is why they "hired" him on staff instead of keeping him in the GOP
They knew all along that they would need to invoke EP later.

Bush will retroactively pardon him for any and all crimes. They can't let this cat out of the bag.

3. Wouldn't it be great if we could all enjoy the distain of the law
that this admin has? Forget about supoenas, grant ourselves retroactive immunity for past troubles, forget the bills you owe, and if you ever do get convicted of anything, pardon yourself. bushco is a parody of a bad joke.

6. The only way it could apply is if Rove
was in consultation with the White House when implementing his work which makes the White House complicit in his crimes.

14. Different dogs, same handlers.
They're all fucking owned.

Kucinich is the only one with any real balls, and his own Party treats him as if he were simply the Court Jester.

10. No.
They would have to appear or be arrested, forthwith.

If Congress backs off on this they will have become null & void as to their over sight powers.
