If Obama wins, things MIGHT change
If McCain wins, things won't.

It truly is America's last chance to turn things around via the last hanging thread of "the system". Otherwise a nationwide, general strike will be the only option left. A total and indefinite ceasing of all economic activities by every single American citizen until the government is forcibly removed and replaced with a democratic one.

Don't take the vote you have in November for granted. It may be the last one you'll ever cast. Elections are all but completely fixed and the Supreme Court has 4 young neo conservative religious fundamentalists. The oldest one also happens to be the only relatively liberal one.

Put a clothespin on your nose if you have to. Vote for Obama.

2. Trust me: things WILL change. I know it! It might take awhile, but from
day one the process will start.

How can anyone not believe that? If anyone thinks Obama's going to lay around and do nothing, they're mistaken. And his compromising skills will be in evidence.

6. How can anyone not believe that?
I don't believe it. I haven't been too particularly impressed with "our" candidate, whom I think was one of the weakest of the Democratic field of candidates. I really haven't been impressed with his resume padding of sponsoring "feel good" legislation, his vote on FISA, his embracing of this faith-based nonsense, his embracing of Reagan's campaign style, his lack of experience, his lack of understanding about recent American history (especially the '60s), and basically his "go along to get along" style. Undoubtedly, he couldn't be worse than McCain, but at the same time, he is the first presidential candidate in 28 years that I'm actually going to have to hold my nose to vote for.

11. Please. You haven't been paying attention.
I have.

Here's an old link, though you don't deserve it: keep on keeping on with your opinions, but vote for the best candidate, I hope.

15. I've been paying plenty of attention
I've seen him embracing faith-based bullshit, taking chapters out of Reagan's playbook, showing little understanding of recent US history, and now folding on FISA like a cheap card table. In my mind, the only thing he really has going for him is that he can't POSSIBLY be worse than McSame.

26. Say what?
You are doing the rah-rah-rah, sis-boom-bah routine, and you say I sound idiotic?

Let me tell you something. I have been a registered voter for 30 years. I have never missed a presidential election. In all that time, I've never had to hold my nose to vote for any of my candidates, and they've all been Democrats, with the exception of my first vote, which went to a Republican masquerading as a progressive. Now we have a candidate who has all of three friggin' years in the Senate, and he's suddenly going to be the guy who saves this nation?

And now, after saying one thing, he turns around and votes for this wretched FISA legislation, which most Senate Democrats opposed, Senate Republicans all supported, and bu$h gleefully signed, but, hey, it's not so bad because Obama'll work to repeal what he voted for, once he's president??? How idiotic does THAT sound?

28. Check reality now. We have two choices. I'm sorry for you,
but not for me. At least I have a Democrat who trips my trigger and I can believe in.
So there you have it.

13. His "compromising skills" are what bothers me..
I don't want "compromise" with the right, I want someone to fight them to the last breath.

Dems have been "compromising" (read as rolling over and playing dead) with the right since at least 1992, it's way beyond time to bring that crap to a screeching halt.

Obama's FISA vote just strikes me as the first in a nearly infinite series of "compromises" with the right.

14. Tough. That's what Obama is doing, compromising. When and if
he wins, you will see a change. Whatever 'strikes' you doesn't bother me.

Thanks!

How could the Dems possibly compromise more than they have already?

20. I don't see how that is an answer to my question..
The question being once again.. How could the Dems possibly compromise more with the right than they have over the last eight years?

And Obama was my next to last choice, after Clinton, precisely because of what was in the article to which you linked.

Sure I'm voting for the lesser of two evils. But that's not going to save us or the people we strangle in other countries. That's my issue.

19. I'm voting for Obama to stop the rightward swing of this country.
He probably won't turn us left, but as long as he continues being a good centrist (not to be confused with DLC center-right) I believe he will open the door for more progressive candidates in 2012 or 2016.

27. Hmm...
Obama wants to "end the politics of division"..

Does anyone seriously believe that the right is going to compromise on any freakin' thing at all?

After watching politics for over forty years it is my considered opinion that the only way to "end the politics of division" is to give the right everything they want.

Kind of like the Dems have been doing for at least the last eight years.
