Tell Me How To Spend My Money
Well it finally arrived...my "stimulus" (bribe) showed up in the mail and as I had posted previously, I intend to use this money (I get the whole $1,200) to donate to help Democratic candidates. Now that's it's here, I'm gonna sit down this weekend and come up with a list of candidates and would appreciate input from fellow DU'ers.

I won't be using any of this money for Presidential...strictly downticket races with an emphasis on Congressional races...and more specifically races where we can flip a red seat blue.

So far some of the money is spoken for. A good chunk will go to Dan Seals in his battle here in Illinois 10th...another goes to help Bill Foster hold onto the 14th and also to Debbie Halverson who is looking real good in replacing Senor Jerry Rios Montt Weller. I've also tossed some money already to Darcy Burner and Donna Edwards due to their special circumstances (and that won't come off out of this money).

Most of these donations will be in the $25 and $50 variety so the money can go to as many needy candidates as possible. Now I want to know who you think is the most deserving...

3. Is Blunt Jr. Running?
I've been thinking about the Congressional race in Kansas City...pardon that the name of the lady running escapes me. She's been getting slimed pretty bad so far.

18. Blunt jr declared that in just four years he had accomplished
*everything*, so that he wouldn't be running for a second term.

Of course the conventional wisdom was that even with a huge campaign war chest he didn't have a chance to win a second term, and that it would be better (for other job prospects) to go out unbeaten, than to weather a big defeat.

Unless things have changed recently, Nixon is considered a strong candidate with a good edge to win.

19. Good To See You
Hope all is well...haven't seen you around much lately...hopefully you're finding other good things in life.

Looks like the Blunt may go after Bond's seat. Wow is the old man in the bag or what? All through the FISA debate the guy looked like he had been punting footballs with his face.

Well I've got no problems with Nixon...also Russ Carnahan and Claire McKaskill's brother...in fact I'm hoping Obama seriously is considering Claire as his VP.

Cheers...

16. Were a big Repuke area and we have an idiot Iraqi Repuke Vet running
against him. Hall has done more for VETS. than they the previous repuke congresswoman ever did. Besides I like him and he actually knows who I am, imagine that.

5. Tom Allen is trying to replace Susan Collins in ME
and she has millions in her coffer. She is no moderate, and he is trying to call attention to that fact.

Jeanne Shaheen is running against Sununu in NH. I am very happy to see NH electing Dem reps to Congress. They need a Dem Senator!

7. Allen Is Definitely On The List
Watching Collins vote down ALL the FISA ammendments yesterday should prove once and for all who she's truly representing. I've liked Allen's work in Congress and I agree, he'd be a great addition to a more Progressive Senate.

6. go to this site, they have a good listing of close races or seats that can flip:

And by the way, nice use of your "stimulus" check.

8. I've Done ActBlue...
But this is money I want going directly to the candidate. Some of these sites use Paypal and the other day I saw that Ebay's owner (who also has a big interest in Paypal) is a big Gramps booster. I'd rather that goon never sees a dime of my money.

Thank you for the reference. I'm also refering to DKos, MyDD and OpenLeft for suggestions.

9. IMO, getting rid of the "blue dogs" is more important than getting rid of outright Republicans..
It's the blue dogs who are making Democrats in Congress laughing stocks.

They need to go ASAP.

Glenn Greenwald at Salon.com is involved in an effort to target blue dogs who voted for FISA among other things.

11. That's Why I Helped Donna Edwards
In the past I worked and gave money to my local Congresscritter, Melissa Bean...who betrayed many of us here and turned into a Blue Dog. This year no money no phone banking and surveying...let her big money donors pay. My big race is to see Seals win in Illinois 10th.

In many cases it's too late to go after the Blue Dogs as the races for the fall are set and there's no way I'd even consider a repugnican challenger. Definitely in '10 there are will be a serious need to address the Blue Dogs.

10. Well I was going to suggest
"The Anotheryellowdog Needs Your Cash For The Betterment Of Anotheryellowdog Foundation," but since you seem determined to donate to actual candidates, might I suggest Rick Noriega? He is running for the U.S. Senate from Texas in an effort to unseat shameless Bush sycophant John Cornyn. I'm quite sure Mr. Noriega would appreciate the donation.

13. Charity Begins At Home, Eh?

I like Noriega...he's begun to make some noise and looks like "Big John" is vulnerable. I'm hoping my Texan friends will restore my faith that the Lone Star state has begun to get back its true common sense.

Part of this "exercize" is also to help other DUers who might be looking for candidates or those whose candidates could use a little love. We spend so much time dealing with the beauty pagents around here, I think it's also important to give some focus to the other races. If yesterday wasn't a good enough reason to elect more and better Democrats, nothing is.

Cheers...

22. The candidate I'm working as a campaign manager for!
Her name is Sandra VuLe and she's running for Texas State House District 112.

Reasons why you should be interested in a Texas State house race: We're five -- FIVE -- seats away from taking control, and you know what happens in 2010, don't you? Redistricting baby! Investing in Texas State House seats now will mean NEW Democratic and competitive Representatives in Washington down the road! :D

Reasons why you should contribute to Sandra specifically: She's an absolutely great candidate, with great ideas. Hardworking, smart, and a great story -- she came to this country as a refugee from Vietnam and now she's a successful lawyer -- how great of a story is that!

we really need to filibuster-proof it, if we can. I'd like to see Liddy Dole get booted.
