That PZ is able to teach classes and keep that blog is amazing to me.

Good on him and screw those idiots.

I'm thinking of making a page on the Truthiness Encyclopedia on Communion Wafers, still not sure how to make jokes about it yet...

attach to that "frackin' cracker" . . . personally, I don't care one way or the other . . . I just think that attacking a religious symbol that some hold sacred is just needlessly asking for trouble . . . aren't there real issues that this energy could be used to address? . . .

13. Not much different than the Mohammed/cartoon flap, wouldn't you say?
But I'm willing to bet real money that some of the same people with their underwear in a knot over the communion cracker had a different attitude toward Muslims offended by a cartoon.

This religious sensitivity and its extremist reaction ("death to the infidels!") are the problem. We have a couple of thousand years of history of walking on eggshells around these delicate beliefs with nothing to show for it. Why not give desensitization a try?

25. The bond religion provides, as well as its much maligned
organisational capabilities, are responsible for the civilisation we know. While I doubt that a few handfuls of petulant children playing pranks with wafers could one way or another change anything, the fact remains that religious cohesion shaped this world.

Threaten to stop teaching evolution. FUCKING BAM BAM BAM!!!

You know damn well what will happen. He intentionally is playing the victim after agitating a mass (Pun intended) audience with the inevitability in mind that unstable people would emerge to make "threats." If you want to also act like a nutter, go for it. But it's a boring show for sane people, especially those who see cheap and meaningless publicity stunts for what they are. You are dismissed.

30. You aren't very good at this, are you?
Maybe you missed it. Here, I'll help you. People like PZ, and many DUers, like to find isolated instances of "religious" people misbehaving and argue errors of conflation from there. PZ, unlike said DUers, is a proactive sort and stirred the pot inviting any and all unstable (remember I mentioned them? Go ahead...go back and read it again...I'll wait...) people to "threaten" him so he can get that conflation going like a right boiler. One can do the same with any group of people. RWers do it all the time. Offend a group intentionally, throw out rational objections, keep the nutters, show off the nutters, claim they represent the group so your prejudice seems justifiable. It's an old, stale trick and here I thought it only worked on gullible Limbaugh types.

You are, truly, dismissed.
