Very conservative AOL has poll that sides with ACLU's lawsuit
Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 01:01 AM by Quixote1818
I don't put any stock in AOL online polls because they are usually off the charts conservative. So, I was surprised that 52% agree with the ACLU on this. What this shows me is that Americans are onto what is going on and Obama may have totally missed the mood of the country on FISA.

If you go to the polls, check out the way they set up the first question to push people toward supporting the bill. A classic push poll if I have ever seen one. Check this out:

How do you feel about allowing the government to eavesdrop on terror suspects? WTF kind of question is that? :wtf:

1. The only people who wanted this bill passed were the ones in on it.
The rest of us can just eat cake.

2. Here is my reasoning on this:
The people on both sides of the aisle with a more libertarian view value privacy and do not want the government to be allowed to spy on us without probably cause.

The people with a more authoritarian view agree with telecom immunity because they see it as okay within a time of war. These are the people most likely to have supported the war and are more fear-oriented than the above population.

This is why I believe Obama made a big mistake by supporting telecom immunity. He must've had some very powerful corporations pressure him on this in some way.

It bothers me because I am more in-line with the more libertarian-minded people. I'm a left libertarian. The libertarians come in both left and right brands.

3. More Americans get it, then the M$M wants us to know.

I don't care how they did the poll (it's meaningless anyway) but it apparently
caught the attention of those conservative AOL users and that's the important part! ;)

They woke up!!

4. AOL is still around?
I thought AOL was extinct. Typical republican conservatives, sticking with obsolete, crappy, dinosaur-ish AOL because they hate to change. They can keep their AOL. It sucks so bad no one else has patience for it.

7. Oh, that's a valid reason to put up with AOL, I suppose.
I thought about my post later, and regretted sounding like such the elitist.

My ex boyfriend had AOL in 2002, and each day, I would get annoyed by the articles on the home page. And now, they own (once great) mapquest.com, but have ruined it simply by attaching it to their sucky system. So, you could say I have a grudge against AOL.

But, I understand there may be good reasons for using them.
