Looks like McCain will have more $$$ than Obama.
The RNC has a whopping 95 million bucks to spend to define and destroy Obama. The DNC has a measly 3 million. McCain raised 22 million in June. Obama raised 30 million- 20 million off of his 50 million goal. If Obama and McCain continue to raise money at approximately the June numbers, McCain will have more money to spend than Obama. Say Obama continues to raise about 30 million a month for the next 4 months, he'll have approximately 120 million. McCain has only to raise 22 million a month for July and August and then he receives 84 million in federal funding for the general. That amounts to 42 million a month for September and October. Add on the 95 million from the RNC and you come up with about 220 million that McCain will have to spend in the 3 1/2 months. Obama, if he doesn't raise 45+ million a month for July, August, September and October, will be at a significant disadvantage.

Money in politics. It really sucks, no matter how you look at it.

3. what garbage. Obama has not pissed on his entire base.
He's an imperfect candidate- as are all candidates who make it as far as he has. Yes, the FISA vote was one that was disappointing, but as usual some DUers hop immediately on the melodrama train. It is not the end of the 4th Amendment or the Constititution, and anyone who has a functioning brain cell should be able to recognize the vast differences between McCain and Obama.

5. Did I ever say this was the end of the constitution? You'd be wise not to use straw man arguments
Did I ever say McCain would be better? Did I ever say I wont be voting for Obama as a result of this?

What Obama did say while running against Clinton that he would block any FISA bill with immunity in it. he changed his position after he won the primary. He took a piss on his entire base. You can pretend that he didn't but in reality that's exactly what he did.

4. Ironic that "the base" or, "al Qaeda" in arabic is slang for
toilet.

The idiot CIA couldn't even come up with a credible name for their mythical antagonist wing.

7. Agree with you
I've close my checkbook to Obama's campaign because of his FISA stand and other right wing talking points he's echoed.

16. So what you are saying is he never said he wouldn't vote for any bill with immunity?
Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 10:58 AM by no limit
Would you like to bet some money on that?

But please by all means, bring out the talking points. "It is not the same bill, it's different so his original promise doesnt count".

6. Only those who vote for Obama in the GE are his base
Including independents, former republicans, DINOs and RINOs. Progressives who decide not to vote for the dem nominee are not part of his base eventhough they share party affiliation in name.

8. I suspect it will only get worse for him if he continues to run to the right.
I am only one person but I will not donate one single dime until I see some effort for accountability...Even just a speach on how criminal this Administration is and has been would help, but all I hear is forget and forgive..I just can not seem to do that sorry...

9. congressional comapaigns
I'm not sure the RNC will spend the entire $95MM on McCain; I would imagine that a lot of that will be spent on key congressional compaigns in a year in which the republicans are thought to be in trouble.

http://www.opensecrets.org/parties/index.php

repugs are behind for the house/senate races by $57+/- million...and you know the RNC is going to have to spend some $$$ there to stop the onslaught...
