Jewish DUers, can you help me find a reading for my granddaughter's Bat Mitzvah? |

Her Torah section is on Deuteronomy 16:18 to 21.9 and it deals with the election of leaders! The service will be held on Sept. 6, so we'll be right in the middle of our GE. However, it would be highly inappropriate for me to electioneer for the Dems, even tho I suspect that her Reform temple congregation in the Boston area would be practically all Dems.
Since I am not Jewish I cannot read Aliyahs but I could do a little reading and I would like to get something philosophical about leadership, perhaps even referencing some Jewish philosphers and theologians (I am not religious). Unfortunately, I am not familiar with such literature, apart from a smattering of Martin Buber.
Any suggested sources for me?

I'm sure if you gave a call he/she would be glad to assist you...many tend to always know the right old testament or talmud story that will fit a political event of the day.
