Poll question: Who should be the Speaker of the House in January 2009?
We all know Jellyfish Nancy Pelosi has to go. Who should take her place, and bring some actual leadership to the House?

4. Barbara Lee, Jan Schakowsky, Lynn Woolsey, Sheila Jackson-Lee.....
.... Jim McDermott, Keith Ellison....

The entire centrist leadership (Pelosi/Emanuel/Hoyer/Clyburn) needs to be shown the door.

12. Either of the Lee 'sisters' would be aces with me ... but I'll pass on Woolsey.
Jim McDermott would be good, too.

7. Some good choices -- I went for McDermott.
Dennis (wrongly, IMO) is viewed by some in the House as being a little fringe. Needs more people in his pocket.

Wexler - more "mainstream" but still a champion for our rights.

But I went with McDermott based on the fact that he's been there a long time, and has had that time to establish relationships with many in the House.

"They do not make law and are not enforceable...

"Sense of" resolutions are typically used as:

...On foreign affairs: a way to express the opinion of the people of the United States to the government...

Although "sense of" resolutions have no force in law, foreign governments pay close attention to them as evidence of shifts in U.S. foreign policy priorities..."

20. Kucinich has been leading during the entire Bush Administration
He led the effort against the patriot act (only one who read it)
led the effort against the Iraq war
is leading on Impeachment and preventing war in Iran...
He deserves the leadership position and we need him there to pursue reversing everything Bush has done, and leading the way on Universal Health Care, ending NAFTA and the drug war.
