This would be an excellent time to impeach
With Rove on the run, Bush and Cheney being held near the spit for impeachment. McCain, Bush's friend will be so battered and bruised by this that Obama will be able to 'walk in to the White House'

3. Well it would be a good time now since nothing else is going on.
Well, there is that pesky presidential election, and all the members of Congress are up for reelection as well as about a third of the Senate. Then there are all of those state races going on. Other than that, not much. Obama is sure wasting a lot of money campaigning if he is just going to walk in to the White House.

Sometimes I wonder how many here actually understand exactly what impeachment is and what it is all about.

9. No, I'm not sure at all that everybody does.
Why wasn't there impeachment last summer when talk of it was all the rage here? Last fall? Last winter? Last spring? It is far, far less likely to happen now than at those other times. Just like I am never going to win the Powerball, the very simple reality is that impeachment (and especially conviction, because without that nobody is "accountable", but so many conveniently forget about that part of the process) is not going to happen while all the members of Congress are going to be campaigning for reelection. That may not be right, but reality is a bitch and a harsh mistress. Welcome to the real world where Bush will be out of office in a little more than 6 months. What "has" to happen and what "will" happen are two different things.

Like a quickie divorce, if you are looking for a quickie impeachment with no chance of conviction, after the November election might be a good time.

15. Were the elections in '06 when Democrats retook Congress rigged?
Or did the Republicans just decide to skip that one?

I will assume that the elections will not be rigged until there is evidence to the contrary. I also assume I will wake up in the morning in spite of the fact that there is no absolute guarantee of that happening. We all go through life making assumptions--it's how we manage to keep on living without being paralyzed with baseless fear and paranoia.

4. If we can make this election a referendum on the Bush administration and the GOP, we win.
I say go for it.

7. We can't let the GOP get away without being punished
if we let them back again then we will lose all our rights and more.

11. If they thought they could impeach
without losing some of thier own, they would have by now.

The problem is, that the democratic leadership in the senate and the house supported Bush all the way. If he is guilty, so are they.
