Proselytizing at the Pump?
from the American Family Association's :crazy:One News Now:

Coming to a station near you...
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow - 7/11/2008 8:45:00 AM

The "Pray at the Pump" movement is spreading around the country, showing up in St. Louis this week after visits to Washington, DC, Toledo, and San Francisco.

Maryland resident Rocky Twyman launched the movement, taking groups to gas station pumps and praying for lower prices. Even foreign media, including television reporters from Iran and Saudi Arabia, have covered it. "First of all, they say the story is so very American because they say only Americans would put God into a political issue like this," he relates.

"It's really fun, you know -- it's a fun event," Twyman continues. "I mean, we have had some incidences where...the management has thrown us out, but we just shake off the dust on our feet and go to another station."

Twyman even took a group to pray on the doorstep of the Saudi embassy in the nation's capitol. "It seems like we help everybody," he shares, "but then nobody's willing to help America -- and it really does kind of tick me off a little bit." That particular demonstration was not well received for some reason.

But the march to the pumps for prayer was especially successful recently in Toledo. "Like about two days after the prayer, that Monday, one of the newspapers called me and told me that it had worked because the prices had gone down in that area like about 30 cents," he recalls.

Twyman hopes people will take the movement seriously because, as he says, the answer to complex problems such as the economic impact of gas prices needs direction from Heaven. He suggests individuals ask God to take a role in every part of their lives -- not just personal crises.

1. You can pray in one hand and do something else in the other
guess which one overflows first.
Oil prices have nothing to do with prayer.

3. so sad that anyone would stoop that low........
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 08:16 AM by blue sky at night
to ask "god" to lower a price of something....hope everyone knows that it doesn't work that way, the only thing we should tell "god" is how grateful we are for what we have, not ask for what we don't have! What a waste of time and energy, wish they would go help a homeless person by giving him or her a shirt or a blanket, or a meal!

4. Lookit what brings the yahoos out
8 years of wanton lawbreaking, domestic neglect, war, carnage, economic wreckage and they spend their time squalling about the imminent Homo takeover of the country.

Gas prices go up and suddenly it's Prayer Breakfast at the Conoco. Self-absorbed moral midgets.

5. God don't seem particularly interested
or he'd be busy smiting hypocrite televangelists and greedy hedge fund speculators.

Since the only ones he's smiting are me and thee, I doubt mumbling words over the gas pump will do anything but make us look crazier than usual.

10. Well, obviously they're praying the wrong prayer
They need to ask the LORD to make Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid start supporting the impeachment of the criminals in the White House.

If we were to remand that gang of thieves to The Hague and to end the war, gas prices would go down.

12. My wife has been loudly saying
"Thank you Mr Bush" every time she gasses up for quite some time now..

Would that be considered a prayer?

She used to get ugly looks here in the deep South, not any more.

I suppose there's as much chance of god intervening to lower the price of gas as there is of congress doing anything about it.

lower gas prices for 'muricans. We are the chosen people....or something.

but some wanted spaghetti with meatballs...so the fish and wine people turned against the spaghetti people and the gas ran dry...

when suddenly, a star appeared in the sky - the brightest star ever before seen

a hush fell over the food fighters and a voice rang out...clear and strong

STEP AWAY FROM THE BONG, SOLLY!
