Poll question: New forum suggestion - Recently Deceased:
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 12:14 PM by Texas Explorer
This is a serious proposal. I believe a new forum called "Recently Deceased" should be created with specific rules that include disallowing disrespectful commentary.

Ya'll can figure out the rest on how to implement this as this is my first forum suggestion and I have no idea how it works after one is suggested.

1. It would certainly take care of the Russert idiocy.

2. I think it would be much more beneficial to work as a
DU community to try to help certain individuals get the psychiatric treatment they so obviously and desperately need.

After all, only deeply troubled humans laugh at and mock people who suffer and die from a horrific disease like cancer.

7. Oh brother.
I don't know which is worse, your condescension and self-importance, or your consistent lack of a sense of humor.

(I'm not talking about Snow by the way. His death, premature as it was, and him being one of the less-repugnant repugs makes his death a sad occasion. I'm talking more about total scumbags who have already lived full lives.

Jesse Helms spent like 114 years on Earth doing his damndest to make life hell for working people, the poor, blacks, gays and women. If someone wanted to celebrate a bit, big whoop.

I don't think they had to have been disturbed to have done so.)

Seriously, though. Why are you always so incessantly dour, self-righteous and imperious?

Why not let people express themselves in their way and you express yourself in yours?

It seems like the lion's share of your posts here are bitching about other people's posts.

3. Perhaps a group with the same rules as other groups -
if you want to post in them, you have to donate to DU . . . and the posts never show up on the main board, so unless you GO to the forum you aren't going to see anything.

Maybe call it the "Immature A$$holes" group - or the "That post has too many words, I'm not going to read it" group - or the "Nobody has any rights, so I can say what I want - that's my right" group.

4.  I don't think that would really work..
For one thing, there are some of us who don't think it's nearly as bad to 'dance on a grave' as to be nasty about someone's serious illness. I don't care what anyone says about me when I'm dead, but I don't want anyone gloating over me if I'm alive but living in pain and fear.

Also a lot of people would go over there to see what people are saying, and start arguments.

5. More Rules=worse. Fewer Rules=better.
...and the significance of "grave-dancing" posts when some R-wing a-hole kicks it is way exaggerated.

So Limbaugh might read one of those threads on the air. Big Whoop.

"Oh, no, we might alienate Limbaugh listeners!" :sarcasm:

Yeah, like there is ANYTHING on this board that would appeal to the mentality of a Limbaugh listener.

6. I think it would be nice
Or at least could be nice - if you still allowed threads with realistic views of the not so moral things that the person did in life in GD, there would still be flame wars and bullying. But hey - if you moved those threads to the forum the flame wars and bullying would take place there instead of cluttering up GD for days. Plus if people have to go to a smaller group forum, they probably aren't going to make the effort unless they really care and there won't be so large an audience so there might not be as much trolling going on.
