Tony Snow died with the courage of an infantryman - Brian Williams
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 06:33 PM by RamboLiberal
When I lost my own Sister to breast cancer, Tony was among the first to contact me to offer comfort. He faced his own struggle with the bravery of an infantryman. He was a rare combination of true believer and honest broker — and that is why the death of this humane, beloved young man has been greeted with such widespread sadness.

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/

Yes he may have had courage. I've seen many with cancer who do. And while cancer is hell, at least Tony knew what was happening, he had a chance to make peace with his family and his faith and God. I don't equate that to the hell an infantryman in this illegal war Tony's ex-boss put him in with Tony's enabling.

Over the top there Brian. Why does everything have to be war with some of these MSM fools? Go read the classy comment your colleague KO made Brian.

Wonder if Fox is going to do the over the top coverage NBC and MSNBC gave Tim Russert!

29. The really sad part is that Tony & Timmy really believed and Brian believes
that they were and are serving some useful purpose and are honorable men doing great work in media. If only they knew the truth. Brian must be hoping for similar deification.

I only feel sorry for the widows and children.

The same infantrymen subject to stop loss, denied benefits and going homeless on our streets, right, Brian?

She did not die with the courage of an infantryman or woman. She died beaten and broken like cancer patients everywhere. But what the devil does Brian Williams know about dying infantrymen or women. He doesn't even show their caskets or funerals.

Spare me Brian Williams.

16. somehow, the sacrifice of our men and women in uniform...
..is cheapened by Williams' remark. It was the work of Rupert Murdoch and his ilk that facilitated more than 4,000 gruesome deaths in the hot sand so far from home, to say nothing of tens of thousands of wounded and even more thousands of grieving family members.

21. Geezus fucking christ, I'm not one for grave dancing per se, but this type of instant
memorialization of shitty half-assed journalists like Snow and Russert is enough to make me gag.

Snow was one of the worst mouthpieces Bush ever had, claiming that the war was justified, etc. etc. ad nauseum.

I can hardly even take reading this piece of shit forum anymore because of all of the instant glorification of assholes like Russert and Snow.

Since there is no chance of this post surviving more than a minute, I'll be frank.

The Tony Truth Block is symptomatic of the obliteration of political opposition generally. If a man like Snow can be protected, who can be honestly criticized?

42. Goebbels was a family man and a patriot to most of his countrymen
Edited on Sat Jul-12-08 10:55 PM by Ichingcarpenter
Brian Williams on the life and death of Joseph Goebbels
for NBC news.

Goebbels earned a Ph.D. in Heidelberg University in 1921, writing his doctoral thesis on 18th century romantic drama; he then went on to work as a journalist and later a bank clerk and caller on the stock exchange. He also wrote novels and plays.

His family were Catholics of modest means, his father a factory clerk, his mother originally a farmhand. He had four siblings: Konrad (1895–1949), Hans (1893–1947), Elisabeth (1901–1915) and Maria (born 1910, later married to the German filmmaker Max W. Kimmich).

He originally intended to train as a priest, but after growing distant from his Catholic faith<5> he studied literature and philosophy at universities in Bonn, Würzburg, Freiburg im Breisgau and Heidelberg, where he wrote his doctoral thesis on the 18th century romantic novelist Wilhelm von Schütz.

Goebbels’s was cool, sarcastic and often humorous: he was a master of biting invective and insinuation.
In public, Goebbels remained confident of German victory: "We live at the most critical period in the history " He died on May 1st, 1945

If You don't think this was not on purpose you are sadly mistaken

Real infantry men who die are just a number
Tony Snow was not a number but an infantry man.

Obscene.

36. Infantrymen die in mud and muck or, if they survive long enough, in a field hospital.
But they die a long way from home and they die way too young - many of them die before they've really had a chance at life. I imagine Tony Snow died in a clean bed surrounded by his loved ones and with medical people at least trying to ease his passage. Tony Snow died much sooner than we expect people to die nowdays - certainly he died far too soon for his family. But he died of natural causes so perhaps his loved ones will find comfort in the thought it was his time or it was God's will. At least they will know he did not die because he lacked access to healthcare or because he went off to fight a war based on lies. And there are too many other familes in this country who know that he did not die like an infantryman.

46. RIP #125
Just a number........roughly 1500 people die from cancer EVERY DAY

Tony died around 2:00 am......he's probably around number 125 for this day in his history.

1500/day divided by 24 hours/day = 62.5

62.5 x 2 hours into the day (2:00 am) = 125

Tony is 'around' the 125 person to die of cancer on this day in time

---------------

I know what I posted is 'crass'.....but thinking of people in terms of "numbers" ONLY is equally as crass. Tony Snow openly/unapologetically promoted even EMBRACED this odious idea of 'people as numbers'.

Back at'cha Tony *clik*

RIP numbers 0 - 1500, who died from cancer today.
