Unhappy with the Dem party? This is the best time to change it

In 2006, after 12 yrs of GOP control of the house, and 6 yrs of total Republican control of the government.. for anyone watching it was clear.. the Republicans are a disaster and they are corrupt.

And even though, in my opinion the Dems have blown an opportunity... there is a wave of popular support for change. The Dems will pick up a lot of new seats in congress, no matter how bad they piss off the base.

With those extra seats and a larger majority, we get an extra bonus benefit, we will have the benefit of changing the party from within.

For starters, we will gain seats in the senate and no one in the Dem party can make excuses to not boot Joe Lieberman the hell out.

We will gain enough seats in the house to make the Blue Dogs just as irrelevant as Lieberman.

And thats when we go to work to shape the party into something that truly represents what the majority of Dem voters want it to be.

Thats when instead of spending 100% of the time fighting the Republicans, we can spend a lot more time (and money) running Dem primary candidates to get rid of a lot these fake DINO house members

We are riding a wave, rank and file Republicans are leaving their party in droves. And the more seats we pick up this time, the easier it will be to start changing the party.. and we can start in the very next mid-term election.

Actually, we should start the day after the November election and lobby for new Dem leadership in the House and Senate... and use the just completed election as proof that we mean business.

If you are unhappy with the Dem party, this is the best time to change it.

Best
Kelley

1. All I can say is

Do you know how primaries and qualifying work?

Take Florida for example. Qualifying to get on the primary ballot was the first week in May. That's when you had to pay your nearly $10,000 filing fee. If you wanted to qualify by petition, you had to turn in, in some districts, over 5,300 valid (they check them)signatures from eligible voters living in your district, 3 weeks earlier. If you ain't on the primary ballot now, you can't get on it. The Debbie Wasserman-Schultzes and the blue dogs are already in place or unchallenged.

And down here, as in a lot of other places, the party actually undermines progressive candidates.

3. actually, if mccain wins in november- THAT will be the best time for change...
HOWEVER- if he loses, the corporatist dlc-dino wing of the party will pin obama to the 'looney left' and try to suck the party even farther to the right than she they already have.

5. The change you saw in 2006 started in 2004. Dean's group was not the
only grassroots org that wanted to free our party from the DLC types. It was like spontaneous combustion.
