So do you think Bush Administration is gearing up for a war in Iran?
There is talk about troops withdrawals and all the talk about missile testing and U.S. and Israel's talk against Iran. Are we really going to see a war with Iran before November?

1. No. It will happen in December. Just like Daddy did re Somalia.
Too late for impeachment, but early enough to hobble the next administration.
Just my opinion.

2. no way--they just want to bomb a few places strategically. There won't be any negative consequences.

After that--they haven't really made any plans. Especially for war.

What?

3. yeah it'll be all shock-and-awe-y and stuff.
Plus didn't our current secretary of state mention something about bombing them to glass if necessary. We always still have the glass option.

I mean, we've proven WE KNOW what we're doing in Iraq. And Afghanistan. Invade. Bomb a bunch of civilians. Go huddle in an eight acre compound next to the airport, and perma-glo the pieces of three to eight U.S. soldiers a day so they won't stink up the cargo hold on the way back, and declare victory.

It seems to be our MO everywhere we go.

4. Thing is, they can't nuke them to glass--our gasoline would be radioactive for eons.
they have to be planning conventional bombing sorties. And then go in and take the Gas. It will be easy--the Iranians will be so shocked by the attack they won't even be able to fight back! Flowers and Candy! Greeted as liberators! No insurgency! Cakewalk!

The War Party never changes.

6. Oh, but the radioactivity will make our gas internal combustion engines run better
just like those new hydrogen splitters that inject hydrogen into them now.

Just think of the extra mileage our vehicles will get from radioactive fortified gasoline.

(Sure they'll do it. They're criminal psychopaths.)

8. i think they will do it
otherwise it would go away , Hersh keeps talking about it and is concerned.

i don't feel this adnim gives a damn what the outcome may be , they have proved they don't care about troops or NOLA or anything else so far so why would there be reason to believe they care about the affects of yet another attack?

5. No, I do not think so. I certainly hope not. The consequences are simply too great.
It is highly doubtful that an attack would significantly degrade the Iranian nuclear program or Iranian military capabilities that has protected much of its nuclear program and much of their military resources under North Korean style deep-earth shelters with heavily fortified bunkers.

Iran does have a massive array of basic missiles more than capable of raining down real destruction on the oil tankers on the Gulf and the oil refineries and desalinization plants in the Gulf states thus crippling the world's oil supply and sending oil prices up to $300 to $400 per barrel thus collapsing the American economy and most of the world economy. Of course the damage inflicted by such weaponry on the U.S. Fleet in the Gulf would be enormous. The technology simply does not exist capable of stopping a massive retaliation from Iran.

EVERYONE knows that such an attack by the United States would come at the cost of the destruction of much of the world's oil infrastructure and thus the destruction of the American economy and most of the global economy.

Any attack on Iran would send oil prices into the stratosphere and the stock market and U.S. dollar into free fall and it would happen immediately.

Gasoline and heating prices for the winter weather will at least double or triple beyond their current projections, which are already skyrocketing.

Within a few months, America and the world will fall into a long and deep depression at least on par with the 1930's.

I would certainly hope that even the crazed neocons are not so insane.

I think of war with Iran as the ending of America's present role in the world. Iraq may have been a preview of that, but it's still redeemable if we get out fast. In a war with Iran, we'll get dragged down for 20 or 30 years. The world will condemn us. We will lose our position in the world.
