Reid said he wants * to open up the strategic petroleum reserves saved for an emergency. He said this was an emergency and opening the reserves would immediately bring prices down. He also said that Congress is going to address the "greedy" speculators that are part of the problem. I didn't hear him say anything regarding off shore drilling, but I caught the tail end of it right before he was cut off. Appropriately enough, MSNBC went right to the New Yorker Cover story and gave no comment on Reid's remarks.
I forgot to add he mentioned that the oil profit numbers will be out next week. He wants the oil companies to answer to the American people on where the 68 million in tax cuts that we gave them went. Reid basically slammed the oil companies hard on national TV. That's why he was cut off.
