So he wants the taxpayers to pay for $4 a gallon for gas to go in a Crown Victoria so he can garner respect from criminals. They could also at least try to teach them to speak properly. But I guess if your worried about getting respect from criminals you don't care if you speak properly or not.

7. Or bicycle patrol
which is what the cops do in parts of this city.

They put them on bikes about 15 years ago and those cops are BUFF.

They can also run down thugs a lot more easily on a bike than with a Crown Vic.

10. It's amazing how silent those bikes are.
The cop is whizzing by you before you even know what happened.

6. well rog you know about the cliff
if he down here he's gettin' his ass run over on illinois in a hybrid. And they may turn around and run back over him again just for kicks, or possibly because they couldn't see below the hood line of their Ford 250000 Earth Destroyer.

Hey Conchita did we hit a speed bump? No I think it was just a cat.

8. Maybe he needs one of these like the British police
A Lamborghini Gallardo pursuit car, along with an open collared shirt and plenty of heavy gold chains around his neck. You can't carry too many suspects in that car but you can really impress the ones you can. Getting caught is almost like going on a date.

9. The brits
conduct some of their police pursuit training on the public streets! In traffic!

That amazed me.

That would never fly in the US

15. I don't actually see PD's going to them mainly due to expense...
in maintenance which is a specialty. They just couldn't take the rigors of police service. The present police car by Ford also comes in a CNG/Propane version which was not widley popular. The biggest problem is finding a vehicle that can carry all the electronics and other junk that adds hundreds of pounds. Most fleets average 10-12mpg tops and thats usually combined driving. Propane might make a comeback as it is in wide use in Europe with large former gasoline powered vehicles.

Edited on Mon Jul-14-08 09:51 PM by RamboLiberal
and get his lazy butt out of his big-ass patrol car. Cities are going to be forced to either down size the vehicles, put more cops on foot and bike patrol or cut the force.

BTW what city was this guy from?

19. In Central City, Colorado (a local mountain casino town)
The police have 3 Hummers H2's. I *wonder* what justifies them to own a useless $50,000 gas guzzler in the middle of nowhere. Many mountain towns I've been to doesn't even have Hummers. Maybe a Ford Expedition or two, but a HUMMER? Forget it.
