I believe that all the Kucinich naysayers here at DU owe Kucinich an appology...
Kucinich wins hearings but not on impeaching Bush

WASHINGTON (AP) —

Rep. Dennis Kucinich's single impeachment article will get a committee hearing

but not on removing President Bush from office.

The House on Tuesday voted 238-180 to send the article of impeachment — for Bush's
reasoning for taking the country to war in Iraq — to the Judiciary Committee,
which buried Kucinich's previous effort.

This time, the panel will open hearings. But House Democrats emphatically said they
will not be about Bush's impeachment, a first step in the Constitution's process of
a removing a president from office.

Instead, the panel will conduct an election-year review — possibly televised — of
everything Democrats consider to be Bush's abuse of power. Kucinich, a Democrat from
Ohio, is likely to testify. But so will several scholars and administration critics,
Democrats said.

1. It is a bittersweet victory for Kucinich Fans.... It seems how good of a case
Kucinich makes for Impeachment is basically going to fall on deaf ears. How will history judge us? Never in the history of the United states has a case screamed out for impeachment and nothing has happened.

7. So Kucinich repeatedly going to bat against a Congressional delegation
who time and time again has swept these resolutions under the rug and finally gets his moment to possibly TELEVISE the illegal actions of the * administration during an ELECTION YEAR is still 'off the table' or 'keeping the powder dry' to some, eh?

There were some pretty ignorant comments made about the ability of Kucinich to gain any traction with this, and here it comes to fruition, and yet there are still some who oppose this action.

Brilliant!

Yet do you honestly think that with all the foot dragging, and 'executive privilidge' that this would still not have been playing itself out, two years later.

Perhaps a better late than never approach is the final consolation to a tragic eight years, that is my hope, and I wish that more folks would get behind this.

Dennis is being given the opportunity to let people, who are offended by Bush and his cronies trampling all over the constitution, think he's their hero.

Meanwhile, they're so happy to see the phrase "article of impeachment" they don't stop to think that it's nothing more than a piece of cheap political theatre.

Go Dennis go!

"The impossible takes a little longer."

USMC

-------------------------------------

"Impossible" is a much misunderstood word."

"Impossible" usually isn't."

"Impossible" just takes more time and more money and then it becomes "Do-able".

So, was it ever really "Impossible" to begin with?

36. heh. i like your spirit!
"difficult, not impossible..." is what we would like to think.

but as we all saw how well that played out (in "two" as we refer to it), it is not possible.

you have to love dennis. if dennis were a dog he would be a jack russell terrier. ferocious. tenacious.

keep it up, dennis. bite at their ankles. keep them hopping and swatting.

but then there is the truth:

there will be no impeachment. politically it makes no sense in an election year when we have a true possibility of winning. the downside is too strong. and the upside is that there is no upside. again, politically speaking.

hate the democrats all you want for what they are doing now. but you will love them for what they pull off in the fall.
