"Our Constitution is being destroyed. We are losing our nation to a war based on lies."
A single Article of Impeachment of President Bush, which alleges that Mr. Bush sent the nation to war under the false pretenses, will be brought to the floor of the House this afternoon. Its sponsor, U.S. Representative Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), will rise to refer the bill to the Committee on the Judiciary. Kucinich has long been pressing for Impeachment hearings. He previously introduced 35 articles relating to President Bush and three articles relating to the Vice President.

(snip)

"If it is tabled, I will bring another Impeachment resolution back this week," said Kucinich. "Our Constitution is being destroyed. We are losing our nation to a war based on lies. I am determined to get this bill to committee for a hearing," he said. "The President has conducted the affairs of the nation in a manner which cries out for justice and it is the Constitutional obligation of Congress to check his wanton abuses of U.S. and international law. We have troops whose lives were put on the line because the President told them Iraq was a threat to the United States and it was not. The loss of lives of our troops and of innocent Iraqi civilians is a direct result of the lies this president told to Congress. He must be held accountable."

The Article of Impeachment alleges that President Bush falsely told the nation that it had no other choice to go to war because Iraq was an imminent threat in possession of weapons of mass destruction, and that the President had repeatedly implied that Iraq had abetted al Qaeda in its devastating attack of 9/11. Kucinich, in his Article, cited documents which assert the White House knew the statements were false at the time they were made.

15. Honestly, I'd had the same thought, too. Lately, the first response in many threads is like this.

Of course, I do get the point of the first response, but somehow in making the first response a screamingly sarcastic one, it does divert from the original OP, in that the next few responses are usually in answer to the sarcastic one, and the whole point of the OP doesn't even get addressed until further down in the thread or at all.

16. I don't know who it was in that first response, but
I've had 'em on ignore for a while, so my hunch is that it's hardly the first time.

9. I think you're missing the point.
Americans are being fed lies every day. From the New Yorker to the lies that got us into Iraq. At some point, someone has to see the pattern, someone has to figure out that this country is diseased. Too many of the people at the top are trying to manage us through the use of lies. We have to call them out wherever we see them. From the New Yorker, to the president of the USA.

18. Attempts to paint Obama as a terrorist are attempts to give the election to McCain
Which is an attempt to finish off what's left of America and its Constitution once and for all.

That should really, REALLY make you mad!!!!

10. Dennis Kucinich is my hero!
Pretty much the only true hero in Congress right now.

Not to demean the other good guys, but Kucinich is the real deal, hero-wise: he's diminutive in stature, most everyone makes fun of him, constantly nay-saying anything he tries to do: the media mocks him and the politicians try and ignore him... but he soldiers on, and he fights the good fight, and he never gives up.

12. Even if it goes down that Bush did go to war knowingly illegally, it's owed to the 4100+ families
who lost loved ones for nothing but a failed attempt to secure oil real estate

13. And it is owed to the 80,000 with liifeling physical injuries,
and the couple 100,000 with lifelong mental injuries. And the million dead innocent Iraqis, and the 4 million displaced Iraqis.

And to the world. And, least of all, to the economically broken country that we call home.
