I just got an email from my employer's IT dept telling us why. They say it affects all DNS servers worldwide.
"Due to a critical security flaw in all DNS servers worldwide, IT has applied a recommended patch to our DNS servers to protect our systems and employees.
This patch has introduced delays when patched servers request information from un-patched servers. This can result in slow load times or Page Not Found errors when a web page is loaded. Typically, a refresh or reload of the page will bring the website up properly.
IT is looking into methods of mitigating this issue and ultimately the solution will be that affected sites will be required to apply the critical patch to their DNS servers."

I was supposed to hear an EPA online seminar this afternoon but the connection kept breaking. Don't know if they're related, though.
