US gives Iran two weeks to comply with nuclear demand
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/index.php?sid=384245

The US has warned Iran it must decide between confrontation and co-operation in the dispute over its nuclear plans.

Iran has refused to commit itself to stopping uranium enrichment as demanded by the European Union, the US and other world powers.

The EU's chief diplomat Javier Solana, speaking at a news conference said: "The most important question" in the dispute with Iran remained unanswered.

On behalf of the UN Security Council, Solana met Iranian representative Jalili to talk about the offer of future cooperation in the areas of economy, nuclear energy and politics, once Tehran halts its nuclear activities.

The meeting was supposed to find a path to full negotiations by squaring the world powers' precondition of nuclear suspension with Iran's insistence on its right to civilian nuclear energy.

"We have not gotten an answer. We didn't get an answer yes or no, straight, and we hope that it will be given soon," Solana told reporters.

1. Full of shit, as usual. The US went there with no pragmatic idea of
getting out of there. I honestly think Obama and his crazy ideas about diplomacy might be feeding what's going on. What a concept!

5. Fraudulent appearance of "negotiations" by the U.S.
Negotiations are not unilateral. They start and are based on mutual agreement for goals and principles how to achieve those goals.

Negotiations don't operate on "demands".

Negotiations don't have a timetable except broadly.

All this nonsense reminds me of the weeks leading to the First World War when Germany gave 14 "demands" to Serbia to make restitution for a Bosnian citizen who assassinated a royal heir. Serbia agreed to 13, but refused the 14th because it would have the effect of ceding Serbian sovereignty. Germany knew that demand would be declined, and planned on using that refusal as its excuse for commencing war against Serbia.
