President Obama will be the first President during my lifetime who I can say I truly love or loved.
In my eyes the man is as close to walking on water as is humanly possible. He is exactly what our troubled country needs right now, warts if any and all, he is one beautiful person.

That is all
Have a great day, I plan too.

'bout forgot to mention, I start the 19th year of my first and only marriage today. What a wonderful woman I'm married too. Why it is that I should be so lucky, I haven't a clue.

1. Congratulations to you and your wife!
Can't say I love Obama but I do think he has real potential to be a good president- and that's enough for me.

3. That's nice.
I can't remember a president I've even liked much, let alone "loved."

I don't expect to experience that in my lifetime.

5. Congrats on your anniversary
19 years is more than all three of my marriages combined. I've been with a fine lady for seven years, but no more marriages.

6. My sister who is not very religious
and very independent told me yesterday that she thought Obama was the one black man who actually was capable of breaking down the barriers and be elected president. Then she said "I guess God sent him". Astonishingly I found myself agreeing with her and I haven't been to church in 30 years. I can't say I love him but I agree with Michelle in that it is the first time in a long while that I have felt really proud of my country.
Congratulations on your anniversary.

The way you feel about Obama is the way many people felt about JFK, myself included.

Happy anniversary to you guys too. Linda and I have been married since 1973 so we got you by a little.

Getting married was the smartest thing I ever did in my life. True bliss.

Edit: Check out my Einstein thread in the Science forum if you get a minute. Literally.

15. err... wow
I'm going to reserve my judgment on his Presidency until after I see what he does.

I am happy that you have such passion though. I just can't seem to find mine this year. (for any candidate)

Conrgats on your anniversary, that is quite an accomplishment!

Obama certainly appears to have promising potential to be a good President. However, Never Trust Authority is what I always say.

Something tells me you're in for a disappointment within the next 4-8 years.

I'm glad your happy, as am I, about Obama most likely being our president, but "Jesis Christ" make me roll my eyes.

18. I agree with you about Barack Obama, madokie
I was born two years before FDR took office. Our town in New Jersey loved FDR, looked upon him as a savior, my family loved him. We all wept when he died. I can say that no other president, no other presidential candidate has earned my love since FDR's death until Obama appeared.

24. fuck
We're electing a president, not a messiah.

Some perspective is in order.

This kind of hero worship is extreme, and a bit sickening. It's horrible enough when the Reagan-worshippers trump this kind of rhetoric. Let's not go there. We need to be realists, not deifiers.

I think I've seen it all on DU now.

But Happy Anniversary anyway.

26. Love a politician?
Someone is in for a huge disappointment when reality hits.

As Douglas Adams wrote: "Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."

27. Why? What has he "done" to accomplish anything? He hasn't done anything yet.
The only notable things he has done so far is give a speech and support FISA. And narrowly win a primary. This might inspire a "vote" but no worship.
