3. aw, I was hoping he'd be the VP so we could "debate" him; as for govnr
HELL NO! This will probably be yet another half-hearted effort on his part - raise some money, spend it, drop out. See: Senate race, Presidential race.

Besides, Paterson has the office for several more years!

4. Question to New Yorkers --
Do you think he would have a chance? I know he wouldn't with those like us going to the polls, but objectively, what to you think?

5. no - NY is leaning even more Dem - state senate will go Dem this fall
I think Guiliani has been laughed at too many times in the NY media. But weirder things have happened I guess. I don't think he has a shot. And the race is years away anyway.

7. That's great news about NY leaning more Dem!
I think Guiliani's time has come and gone. Thank God.

Capitol Connection is a thoughtful program from WAMC in Albany

ALBANY, NY (2008-07-19) Host Alan Chartock is joined by Jay Gallagher, Albany Bureau Chief with Gannett News Service. They'll talk about the career of Senator Joseph Bruno and what impact his retirement will have. Gallagher gives a profile of the new Senate Majority Leader, Dean Skelos. 8. Forgive me, but he was the Sonny Drysdale of the 2008 campaign.
Kind of looked like him, and had the same "charm."

Giuliani is finished as a politician; he's a joke. He ought to put on an ascot and get a role in a sitcom.

Oh wait, that's the story of his year so far.

(With apologies to Louis Nye, who was a class act his whole life.)

9. This could be a sad ( i..e. amusing and entertaining!) spectacle:
Giuliani and Bloomberg... those aging titans of yesteryear, cruelly term-limited via the machinations of yet another GOP billionaire, Ron Lauder ( he pu$$$hed thru the termlimits law that will keep both out of work in NYC), slugging it out for the GOP nom for GOV.

G's time, alas, I think it's safe to say, has passed fer sure. He embarrassed himself ( and the city) with the presidential run. Good god how ridiculous.

B may still be a force to be reckoned with. Unlimited ego and unlimited cash to throw around... thereby assuring loads of ensdor$ements and favorable press coverage... no matter how bad his mayoralty actually is.

So far Gov. Paterson is extremely popular. Our corporate rulers would prefer one of their own at the gubernatorial helm, however. Paterson's strong now. This could change if the media decides to Dinkinize him.

Watch for this narrative to appear and reappear: "nice guy but a naive lefty in over his head." ( The media likes that one.)

Paterson's task is to deprive them of ammunition.
