The new China Central Television headquarters building

The new China Central Television headquarters building is seen in Beijing Thursday July 17, 2008. The building consists of two angled towers connected at the top to form a continuous loop of horizontal and vertical sections. The spectacular 230 meter (755 foot) building, one of Beijing's tallest, will house more than 10,000 staff. The building is one of a series of landmarks, notable for their futuristic design, that will greet visitors to the Olympics Games, which open Aug. 8.

1. China has indeed caught up with the West
They're building very big, very silly-looking buildings, too.

2. Wait till you see their olympic stadium on TV - it's pretty amazing actually
When we were there a couple years ago building was going on 24 hours a day all over the country. They're having a sort of "New Deal" construction bonanza everywhere in China.

Did you get your "Learn to speak Mandarin for Dummies" tapes yet?

7. Hehe it's actually a pretty easy spoken language
Very very old and so very intuitive. Hebrew is easy to learn as well. English is bizarre and complicated. Older tongues are much more logical.

3. I wouldn't know "Art" if it slapped me, but....
...it reminds me of the "death star" tower structures in the original Star Wars (c.1977) Props to George Lucas for influencing
21st century architecture?

Good thing they don't have earthquakes in China, I guess.

4. I bet the M$M is jealous!
Centralized news/infotainment from the government is CNN/FOXnews/ABC/NBC/CBSs job!
